Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s crazier than Viacheslav Datsik.

Fights – Even though UFC 151 was canceled, there was still ONE FC 5:  Pride of a Nation, which was pretty awesome!

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Phil “I’m the Best Evah!” Baroni started things off with a nice showcase of his Long Islander roots, decked out in a Yankees jersey and firing off double middle fingers to the crowd during his walkout.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

In the actual fight, Baroni won via soccer kicks and punches against his “pony boy” opponent, Rodrigo Ribeiro, putting Baroni back to a .500 record.  Hopefully the New York Badass can continue to floss.

Check out more fights and news after the jump!

Andrei Arlovski’s apparent victory over Tim Sylvia was turned into a no contest due to soccer kicks, because ONE FC has weird rules regarding when you are allowed to kick and stomp a downed opponent’s face into a jelly.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

For further proof, here's Shannon Wiratchai kicking Mitch Chilson to a No Contest.  Thankfully, ONE FC is going to use full PRIDE rules regarding soccer kicks for ONE FC 6.

Shai Lindsey broke two cardinal rules of MMA:  Having dumb hair and dropping your hands to taunt.  He paid for both transgressions by getting knocked out by a switch kick and punches by Carlo Junio.

Sue Hemenway lost to Shelly Hartwell by armbar in about twenty seconds.  This is notable because Sue is 61 and Shelly is in her early twenties.   Despite losing so quickly, Sue is much better than I am for actually fighting.

News – Things happened!  Here are some things!

Jose Aldo was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle.  Apparently Frank Mir's long hiatus stemming from his own motorcycle accident hasn't deterred other UFC champions from riding bikes.  Luckily for Aldo, he was uninjured and should be able to defend his Featherweight title at UFC 153 against not Eric Koch, as he's hurt and will be replaced with Frankie Edgar (What?  That dude's lost two in a row!  This is bullshit, Dana!)

Here's the trailer for Badass Brock, starring Don Frye's awesome mustache, featuring Don Frye.  I'm working on write ups of some past Frye fights, but I get hung up starring at his mustache.

No live MMA coming up this weekend (That I'm aware of, anyway), but The Ultimate Fighter 16 is coming up on 9/14.  We've got a large, muscley man coaching against a smaller fat man that's not as fat as he used to be, and they don't really care for each other. Should be fun!

Rad Fights of Yesteryear - Emelianenko vs Randleman

$

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s dirtier than Gilbert Yvel.

It's time, once again, for Rad Fights of Yesteryear!  This is from the 2004 Pride Heavyweight Grand Prix Quarterfinals, as then-current Pride Heavyweight champion, Fedor "the Last Emperor" Emelianenko takes on Kevin "the Monster Randleman.

Who Are These Jerks?
Fedor “the Last Emperor” Emelianenko is a Sambo practitioner, and, at the time of this fight, was considered one of the best Heavyweights in the world, coming into the contest at 18-1.  Kevin “the Monster” Randleman is a wrestler and has the size of a Light Heavyweight, but achieved far more success at Heavyweight (Probably because the Heavyweights generally aren't as skilled), capturing the UFC's Heavyweight title in 1999.  He enters this bout at 15-7.

What's So Special About This Dumb Fight?

There’s a very brief striking exchange that allows Randleman to get a body clinch.  Kevin lifts Fedor off the mat and takes him down, landing in half-guard.  Randleman lands a few punches before Emelianenko gives up his back and stands back to his feet.  What follows is the greatest German suplex in the entire history of throws.

Randleman, having leveled up twice after knocking out Mirko Filipovic in his last fight, and wanting to try out his new moves, launches Emelianenko off his feet and decides to leap into the air as well, smashing Fedor’s head and neck into the canvas.  Surprisingly, Fedor’s head doesn’t fly off into the fifth row, nor does his spine get pulverized into bone dust.  Instead, Emelianenko calmly sweeps Randleman, attains side control, punches Randleman in the head around twenty times, and then sinks a fight ending kimura.

Being all stoic and Russian, Emelianenko pretty much remains calm the entire fight, only smiling slightly after Randleman lifts him in the air post-fight.

What Did We Learn?

  • Wrestling is pretty cool, but Sambo is kind of awesome
  • German suplexes are most awesome
  • Sambo teaches you to fall from great heights directly on your head to no ill effects
  •  Seriously, how did Fedor not die from that?

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s less polite than Shinya Aoki after breaking arms.

Fights - There were no major fights, and there will never be any more major fights again (I'll get to this in the news section), so let's look at some Z-grade fights.

K-1 is a kickboxing organization, and I really don't pay enough attention to it.  They put on an event this past Saturday, so I decided to watch it, and I realized I need to pay more attention to K-1.  The fights were fun and exciting, with lots of finishes.  Since the format is only 3x3-minute rounds, the fighters don't waste time and just attack.  Here's Part 1 and Part 2 for your viewing pleasure.

Brett Bassett vs Mike Ling

Here's two guys fighting in Jordan, but not for very long.  Bassett catches a kick from Ling and drops him with an overhand right.

Paulo Filho vs Murilo Rua

Paulo Filho had a rematch with Murilo Rua in Brazil that was six years in the making.  Filho won the first fight by unanimous decision.  The years have not been kind to either man, as Filho has battled mental health issues and drug addiction, while even before the first fight, Rua has suffered a lot of brain trauma from multiple knockouts.  This fight doesn't go the distance, nor does it make it out of the first round or even minute.  There's some controversy about the stoppage by referee Mario Yamasaki, but I'd much rather have an early stoppage than someone like Rua take undue punishment.  Of course, to me, the real issue is either man being allowed to fight, but Brazil is crazy about MMA

News - Lots of news items, most of them are pretty depressing for fight fans.

Urijah Faber Sups Upon the Metaphysical Milkshake

Here is former WEC Featherweight champion Urijah "the California Kid" Faber on Rainn "Dwight Schrute" Wilson's van-based talk show, Metaphysical Milkshake, talking mostly about his book, or rather, his "mem-wire", The Laws of the Ring.  Urijah is a fairly charismatic guy, and he's not a horrible person, so I'm always happy to see him do well, even if I mock his Team Alpha Male group's methods.  And, of course, I can't forget Urijah's vacation experience in Bali that resulted in the line "It takes more than twelve Balinese with weapons to kill the California Kid"

Potential Warning - Semi-Gross Images

Chris Weidman had elbow surgery to remove some animal cracker chunks that somehow got lodged inside his arm, so of course he had to share the photographic evidence.  Also included is a picture of Mark Munoz's similar elbow-chunk haul from earlier in the year.  Weidman should make a decent recovery to fight for the number one contender spot if there actually are any more UFC fights ever again.

End Potential Gross Images

As for the constant comments about no more UFC, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Jose Aldo have both pulled out of their fights at UFC 153 due to injuries.  I fully expect this to continue until all fighters are hurt all the time and this "sport" of MMA is canceled entirely.

Don't forget, TUF 16 premieres this Friday.  Luckily everything has already been taped, so it's a thing that we will get to see!

Rad Fights of Yesteryear - Frye vs Takayama

$

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s less entertaining than Shamrock vs. Severn II.

Who Are These Jerks?

Don Frye is a propaganda cartoon of America brought to life, born from the union of a football and an apple pie, raised by a bald eagle to fight everything with his fists of fury and a bitchin’ mustache.

Yoshihiro Takayama is a dyed blond pro wrestler that decided to give real fighting a try, to hilariously disastrous results (Oops, guess I should have left if a mystery if the guy who only knows fake fighting is capable of real fighting).

Why Should I Care About This Dumb Thing?

Prior to the fight starting, Frye and Takayama have a pretty intense stare down during the referee’s instructions that I’m chalking up to Don Frye being really awesome.  Takayama’s no slouch, though; he towers over Frye and does his best at mean mugging, but ultimately loses due to his lack of a boss mustache.

The fight is nothing more than a brawl, a wild, beautiful, amazing brawl.  Frye and Takayama trade punches early and often before both men grab a hold of single collar clinches.  This allows each man the opportunity to repeatedly punch his opponent in the face while offering no chance of defense.

Things are now AWESOME!  The pace slows down to prevent both men’s punching hands from igniting, and they move to body clinches.  Now knees are getting thrown in addition to face punches.  Takayama throws Frye down, but Don’s back to his feet pretty quickly, only taking a knee to the head on his way back up.  We’re back to single collar ties, or AWESOME TIMES, then body clinches, and this continues back and forth until a brief lull allows the referee to call for a break.  Don gets the mouthpiece he dropped returned to him, and Takayama gets his busted up face checked out by the ring doctor.  Nothing seems to be too dangerous, so the fight continues, and they’re back to wild brawling.  The body clinches return, and Takayama tries for another takedown, but just ends up pulling Frye into mount.  Don unloads some ground and pound, and the referee has seen enough (Takayama’s probably had enough, too), ending the fight.  Frye wins by first round TKO, while Takayama must deal with his slow transformation into a Lumpy Space person (Oh my Glob, face punches are lame!)

What Did We Learn?

  • Striking defense is for idiot babies
  • Only face punchings are important, this was Takayama’s downfall, as he attempted body shots and knees far too often
  • The Mustache Triumphs the Blond Dye-Job
  • Pro wrestling is a poor substitute for actual fighting skills

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s worse than Pete Spratt’s submission defense.

Fights – There weren’t any major promotions putting on fights this weekend, but the Z-leagues are always doing something.

Legacy Fighting Championship 14

Jeff Rexroad vs. Lucas Pimenta

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Jeff Rexroad submitted Lucas Pimenta with a pretty wonky triangle choke in their Welterweight title fight.  The triangle usually has the opponent’s arm doing part of the choking, but it looks like Rexroad’s arms are the only thing with direct contact on Pimenta’s neck.  It got the job done, which is all that matters.  Congratulations on the title, Jeff!

Check out more LFC 14 and other MMA stuff after the break!

Steven Peterson vs. Cody Williams

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Cody Williams dropped Steven Peterson twice in their fight, and looked pretty close to finishing off Peterson.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Peterson wasn’t quite done, though, and managed to do something pretty uncommon in MMA – win a fight by omoplata.  Most of the time I’ve seen the shoulder lock applied, it’s used as a sweep to gain a more advantageous position on the opponent, but Peterson decided to ride things out and get the submission.

Derrick Krantz vs. Brandon Farran

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Brandon Farran executes a pretty cool-looking takedown on Derrick Krantz, getting Krantz’s legs to helicopter.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Krantz didn’t want to just be part of Farran’s highlight reel and submits Farran with a rear naked choke.  After a brief celebration, the two fighters hug it out.  I also just want to say I like Farran’s leopard-print gladiator skirt.

Matt Schnell vs. Ryan Hollis

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Ryan Hollis lands a nice super kick (Minus a tuned-up band, so it’s drastically less effective) against Matt Schnell in what would ultimately be a losing effort.  Better luck next time, Ryan (Provided you adhere to proper technique when employing a super kick)

Ion Cutelaba vs. Daglar Gasimov

We move away from Houston, Texas, LFC 14, and fights from this month, to go back to April, to see Ion "Cute Labs" (Not his actual nickname) Cutelaba take on Daglar Gasimov because I just found out about this fight, and it's pretty entertaining.  Cutelaba is a young kid, only 18, and he's very sloppy with his punches, but it doesn't matter because he's got a lot of power, finishing Gasimov and his petrol-based robots off in under 30 seconds.

News - Other than a bunch of people getting injured and more cards getting shuffled, there wasn't a lot of news.

Michelle "the Karate Hottie" Waterson is making her Invicta FC debut at Invicta FC 3 in October, so she's made a video showcasing why she'll win, with cameos from her head trainer, Greg Jackson, and fellow Jackson/Winklejohn fighters, Travis Browne, Kyle Noke, and Jon Jones as ring men.  I'd actually like to see Invicta use guys, since the idea for ring girls is basically "We know you are watching two adult, shirtless men in close physical contact for a prolonged amount of time, so to offset the chance that it might give you strange downstairs feelings, here is a lady in a bikini holding a piece of cardboard to tell you what round it is".  Why not some buff dudes for when the ladies fight (That would mean Browne and Noke are out)?  Anyway, I hope Waterson does well in her promotional debut.

Nothing else really stood out to me this week, so that's where I'll leave the Dumb Stuff.  UFC 152 should be occurring on Saturday, so I'll get a primer of that up before then.  There were some difficulties and delays regarding this month's Splish-Splash Blood Bath, so that will have to wait a little longer, but I might have another Rad Fight or Fantastic Finish soon.

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s more confrontational than a Diaz.

UFC 152 is coming up on Saturday (YAY, FINALLY LIVE UFC FIGHTS AGAIN!) and it features two title fights.  I am so crazy excited, it is crazy how excited I am.

Prelim Fights (Facebook)

Welterweight:  Kyle Noke vs. Charlie “the Spaniard” Brenneman
  • Noke’s Style – Boxing (Kangaroo-style)
  • Brenneman’s Style – Wrestling, being a Joe what defeated some Pros
  • Prediction – Brenneman wrestles upon Noke for a decision

Bantamweight:  Mitch Gagnon vs. Walel “the Gazelle” Watson
  • Gagnon’s Style – Wrestling
  • Watson’s Style – Jiu-jitsu, sleuthing
  • Prediction – Gagnon wrestles upon Watson for a decision, though I would like for Watson to win (based solely on him being born down in the West Texas town of El Paso, though I'm not sure if he fell in love with a Mexican girl there)

Welterweight:  Seth “Polish Pistola” Baczynski vs. Simeon “the Grin” Thoresen
  • Baczynski’s Style – Freestyle
  • Thoresen’s Style – Brazilian jiu-jitsu
  • Prediction – I think Thoresen will out-grapple Baczynski and submit him

Check out the rest of the card after the break!

Prelim Fights (FX)

Featherweight:  Jimy “the Kid” Hettes vs. Marcus “Bama Beast” Brimage
  • Hettes’s Style – Judo
  • Brimage’s Style – Muay Thai, Dragon Ball Z
  • Prediction – Hettes is going to toss Brimage all around the cage like he did to Nam Phan, but I think he’ll get a submission out of it in the end.  Granted, Brimage could use his gymnastic skills to land on his feet and connect with a Kamehameha, but that just seems a tad far-fetched.

Welterweight:  Sean “the Punisher” Pierson vs. Lance Benoist
  • Pierson’s Style – BJJ
  • Benoist’s Style – BJJ
  • Prediction – I expect a sloppy kickboxing match between two ground specialists, and I’ll take Pierson by knockout.
  • Note – Sean Piereson was scheduled to face Dan Miller, but Miller withdrew after finding out his son would be getting a much-needed kidney transplant earlier this month.  Dan Jr. is doing well (Pee-ing! On his own), so congratulations to the Miller family!

Lightweight:  TJ Grant vs. Evan Dunham
  • Grant’s Style – BJJ
  • Dunham’s Style – BJJ
  • Prediction – Again, I’m expecting more sloppy kickboxing, this time with Dunham taking a decision victory.

Light Heavyweight:  Igor “the Duke” Pokrajac vs. Vinny “Pezao” Magalhaes
  • Pokrajac’s Style – Wrestling, boxing
  • Magalhaes’s Style – BJJ
  • Prediction – I like Magalhaes, so I’ll go with him by submission (He is very good at them)

Main Card (PPV)

Featherweight:  Cub Swanson vs. Charles “do Bronx” Oliveira
  • Swanon’s Style –Freestyle
  • Oliveira’s Style – BJJ
  • Prediction – Oliveira is going to make Swanson look really foolish on the ground and submit him.

Light Heavyweight:  Matt “the Hammer” Hamill vs. Roger “the Hulk” Hollett
  • Hamill’s Style – Wrestling
  • Hollett’s Style –BJJ
  • Prediction – Hamill is healed up, he will wrestle Hollett into a decision through deaf-guy strength.

Middleweight:  Michael “the Count” Bisping vs.  “All American” Brian Stann
  • Bisping’s Style – Kickboxing
  • Stann’s Style – Striking
  • Prediction – Stann knocks out Bisping with his mighty Marine power

Flyweight Tournament Final/Title:  Joseph "Joe B-Wan Kenobi"/"Joe Jitsu" Benavidez vs. Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson
  • Benavidez’s Style –Wrestling, Bro-zillian Bro Jitsu
  • Johnson’s Style – Wrestling, baseball
  • Prediction  – I really like Johnson, but I think Benavidez wins with a brollotine choke.

Light Heavyweight Title:  Jon “Bones” Jones vs. Vitor “the Phenom” Belfort
  • Jones’s Style – Wrestling, Striking
  • Belfort’s Style – Boxing, BJJ
  • Prediction – Logically, Jones should easily handle Belfort, with his reach and wrestling.  On a purely emotional level, I want Belfort to hurt Jones then storm him with a flurry of punches that leaves Jon looking worse than Marvin Eastman (WARNING, GROSS IMAGE) after his fight with Belfort.

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s dirtier than Chieck Kongo.

Fights - UFC is back, yay!  I did super awful in my predictions, but I'm not that concerned, there is current A-League MMA in my world again!  The fight section is going to be pretty much all UFC 152 related.

Baczynski vs. Thoresen

Seth Baczynski dropped Simeon Thoresen with a nice overhand left to help start out the night.  Clearly the “Polish Pistola” was a higher caliber opponent for Thoresen (I AM AN AWFUL PUNSTER, PLEASE HELP!)

Magalhaes vs. Pokrajac

Vinny Magalhaes finished Igor Pokrajac with a beautiful armbar.  Igor complained the next day about getting submitted, whining that he didn’t want a grappling contest, but a fight, yet he’s the doofus that initiated a trip takedown on the jiu-jitsu blackbelt.  In the paraphrased, garbled words of Scott Steiner, I’ve got no sympy for Igor Pokrajac.

Check out action from the main card, plus much more after the jump!

Swanson vs. Oliveira

Cub Swanson beat Charles Oliveira by time-delayed knockout.  Cub landed a nice liver shot earlier that “do Bronx” seemed to shake off, then hit a big overhand right that also didn’t seem to faze Oliveira.  I guess he wasn’t used to the time difference, though, as seconds later, Oliveira collapses in pain and the referee stops the fight.

Jones vs. Belfort

Vitor Belfort nearly caught Jon Jones early in round one in an armbar, and according to both men after the fight, there was a lot of popping and overall unpleasant noises coming from Jones and his trapped appendage.

Jones managed to escape the submission and finish the fight in the fourth round with an Americana after spending the previous three rounds cutting open Vitor’s face with his vicious ground and pound elbows.

Death in Kazakhstan

I've got to be honest, I don't know a thing about what's going on here, other than it happened in Kazakhstan, that guy in black shorts died, and the ref's costume is my favorite.  Oh, and the medical staff (Or maybe just some nearby butchers?) are efficient and just put the dead guy on the body bag for quick transport.  Last thing, how nonchalant are those announcers?  No change in volume, pitch, inflection, just continue with the golf-style announcing as some guy's brain leaks.

Referee Incompetence

I'm not sure where this is from, all I know is that one fighter gets caught in a triangle choke, refuses to tap (As is anyone's right), and falls unconscious.  The winner does not notice how limp the opponent has become, nor does the referee.  Apparently bored, the victor lets go and finally the referee intervenes.  I'm glad the guy regained consciousness fairly quickly and hope there was no long-term damage.

The Indomitable Spirit of Crazy-Ass Brazilians

*WARNING - GROSS VIDEO TO FOLLOW*

This fight is between Robert Petter, who turns out to be a pretty skilled grappler, versus Cleiton Silva, fighting out of the Full House camp (Seriously).  Petter gets the fight on the ground and keeps trying different submissions, from armbars, to omoplatas, to triangle chokes (with armbars).  Silva's no slouch, though, staying out of danger (Though it looks like he goes for at least one "Brazilian" tap at least once, or maybe he just flails his arms a bit more than usual when in submissions) and finally manages to escape completely.  Silva goes on the attack, but the referee steps in because Silva's left arm is broken and dangling uselessly.  Silva flops it around forlornly, but doesn't seem too upset with the stoppage.

ALBANIAN ASSASSIN

The ALBANIAN ASSASSIN is the greatest cage fighter in the history of the world, that is all.  Watch out everyone from Demetrious Johnson to Junior Dos Santos, the ALBANIAN ASSASSIN is coming for all of you (Though he's obviously a natural Shirtweight fighter)!

Not much in news, so I'll just cram the one story into my "What's up next?" part.  UFC on Fuel - Struve vs. Miocic is on Saturday, and Strikeforce:  Melendez vs. Healy was supposed to be that same day, but Gilbert Melendez got hurt.  Showtime didn't want to air the event without a headliner, so Strikeforce canceled the entire event, even though there was the possibility of bumping Josh Thomson into the main event to take on Healy for an interim Welterweight title and Jorge Masvidal was training on the off-chance for just such an occasion, so he could have fought Thomson's original opponent, Caros Fodor.  Except Showtime doesn't really care about Strikeforce, so those ideas were scrapped.  Which really sucks since there were some fights I was looking forward to.  OH WELL, GUESS I'LL HAVE TO BE CONTENT WITH JUST ONE FREE MIXED MARTIAL ARTS EVENT THAT NIGHT.

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s shadier than PRIDE.

UFC's running a free card from England tomorrow, which is good, but it's not on tape delay to the US, so prelim fights start at like 1:30 ET.  Normally when I do an event primer I cover the entire card, but I've got to be honest, there are a lot of dudes on the undercard that I don't know anything about (This isn't really that different from most cards, I'm just using it as an excuse to be lazy), so I'll just cover the main card.

Welterweight:  “Beautiful” Che Mills vs. Duane “Bang” Ludwig

Welterweight:  John “the Hitman” Hathaway vs. John Maguire

  • Hathaway’s Style – Freestyle
  • Maguire’s Style – Gypsy Jiu-Jitsu
  • Prediction – Maguire via submission

Lightweight:  Paul “Sassangle” Sass vs. “Handsome” Matt Wiman

  • Sass’s Style – Jiu-jitsu, Luta livre
  • Wiman’s Style – Brazilian jiu-jitsu
  • Prediction – Sass by triangle/heel hook combo, since those are the only ways he wins fights.

Bantamweight:  Brad “One Punch” Pickett vs. Yves “Tiger” Jabouin

  • Pickett’s Style – Striking
  • Jabouin’s Style – Striking
  • Prediction – I’m taking Pickett by knockout

Welterweight:  Dan “the Outlaw” Hardy vs. Amir Sadollah

  • Hardy’s Style – Boxing, child fighting
  • Sadollah’s Style – Muay Thai
  • Prediction – Sadollah will outpoint Hardy to a decision.  He might do some wrestling to Hardy, too.

Heavyweight:  Stefan “Skyscraper” Struve vs. Stipe Miocic

  • Struve’s Style – Jiu-jitsu, tall
  • Miocic’s Style – Wrestle-boxing, baseball
  • Prediction – Struve with a submission on Miocic
  • Thoughts – Struve falls down in funny ways a lot
Check out Struve falling down in a floppy, baby giraffe heap after the jump!

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s less powerful than a Side Czech Kick.

Sorry for the hiatus, I am a dumb, lazy jerk!  I'm going to try and recap as much of the stuff I missed from last week's nonexistent Dumb MMA Stuff, and also include the Dumb MMA Stuff that happened this week!  Let's get to it.

Fights - Oh, man, too many fights, all kinds of crazy, fun fights happened!

UFC on Fuel:  Struve vs. Miocic - UFC insists on airing fights on Fuel, a fake, made up channel that only six people on the planet get, and half of them are sasquatches.  The fights were good, though!

Robbie Peralta's a Busy Man

Peralta made very short work of Jason Young, finishing the fight in 23 seconds with a flurry of punches.  Man I love tinyweight fights.

Check out a bunch more fight recaps after the break!

Nelson Possibly "Gunnaring" For Title Shot? (Ugh, that was awful)

Gunnar Nelson made his Octagon debut, taking on DaMarques Johnson, and it didn't take the former villain of Mighty Ducks 2 (Yes, I know that was Gunnar Stahl, shut up) to get rid of "Darkness", finishing the fight with a rear naked choke in round one.  This being his third loss in a row, plus by missing weight for what was already a Catchweight bought, Johnson was released.  The UFC is now much less awesome fade-ier.

Manuwa is Good at Face Attacks

Jimi Manuwa beat up Kyle Kingsbury for two rounds before the ringside doctor called a stop after Kingsbury's left eye had swollen shut.

Like, he beat him up a lot.

Here's the gross eyeball.

Wiman Subs Sass?  Wiman Subs Sass

In a shocking turn of events, not only did Paul Sass actually lose a fight, but it was by submission!  I guess it's a good thing it wasn't by heel hook or triangle, otherwise the universe would have been ripped apart.  Or I'd just file it with the other examples of fighters getting "Royce'd by their own petard".  At least it was a fun, entertaining grapple fight, so that's cool.

Pickett Wins, Goes Gangnam

Brad "One Punch" Pickett lived up to his nickname, knocking out Yves Jabouin with a single uppercut during their very fun fight.

Then he decided to saddle up a horsey and go Gangnam Style, because why not?  Better than Pat Barry planking in the middle of the Octagon (Planned, intentional planking, not a funny joke for getting knocked out).

Tall Beats Baseball

Stefan Struve had a fun fight with "Michael" Stipe Miocic, and the giant Dutchman managed to withstand some good shots to his chin.  Struve finally utilized his crazy long reach (Which is slightly shorter than Jon Jones, who is seven inches shorter than Struve), hit Miocic with some uppercuts and finished the fight in the second round.
UFC on FX:  Browne vs. Silva - The FX card benefited from being on a channel that humans actually get, but was lacking in celebratory dancing.

Nunes Pummels Palaszewski

Diego Nunes did not like Bart Palaszewski's hair because he punched Bart's head a lot.

To Bart's credit, he kept fighting and lasted the entire three rounds, but he did lose a unanimous decision.

Pierce's Comeback

Mike Pierce got hurt early against Aaron Simpson, but managed to survive the danger and make it through to the second round

That's when Pierce decided to hurt Simpson back, and worse than what Simpson did to him, ending things with a knockout.

Johnson's Comeback (Wait, what?)

I guess Michael Johnson and Danny Castillo got the same script that was handed to Pierce and Simpson, because Castillo rocked Johnson in the first round, and had a tight arm triangle choke, but was unable to finish.

Johnson recovered and knocked out Castillo in the second.

Dodson, We've Got Dodson Here!

John Dodson fought Jussier da Silva, and boy howdy is Dodson quick.

Dodson dropped da Silva twice in the second round, and managed to finish things off with ground and pound with under 30 seconds left in the round.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Then, perhaps the best part of a Dodson victory, came the FLIPZ!  The only thing missing from that GIF is his high-pitched chittering laughter.

Silva Punches Hard

In the main event, Travis Browne was dumb and threw all kinds of crazy kicks like he's not 6'7" and 250 pounds.  He tore up his knee on the first kick, but kept throwing them, until Antonio Silva did a massive punching to Browne's face.

Bellator - Bellator 74 and 75 took place, and there were some cool moments, and some HORRIFYING ones.  Yay!

Bellator 74 - Welterweight tournament bouts, let's see who's going to get to face Ben Askren and have a blond afro jammed up their nose for 25 minutes!

Michail Tsarev choked out Tim Welch to advance to the Welterweight tournament semi-finals

Marius Zaromskis landed a nice spinning backfist on Nordine Taleb (Sure, I'll pretend that's a person's name) en route to a unanimous decision.

Bellator 75 - This was all Heavyweight tournament fights, but when you get to mid-level UFC Heavyweights and lower, they're (un)affectionately known as Trashweights.

Eric Prindle's Horrible Revenge

Thiago Santos fires the first salvo last year

A bit of back story.  In Bellator season 5's Heavyweight tournament final last year, Thiago Santos accidentally kicked Eric Prindle in the nuts and butthole.  Prindle was unable to continue, and the fight was ruled a no-contest.  The rematch was going to take place in March to determine the tournament champion, but Santos never made weight, so Prindle was declared the season 5 winner.  After a loss to Heavyweight champion, Cole Konrad (Who has since retired to be a dairy futures trader, seriously), Prindle entered the season 7 Heavyweight tournament.  He and Santos were matched up again, to hopefully, finally resolve their saga.

Prindle retaliates in true asshole fashion

Unfortunately, Prindle delivered a pelvis-shattering axe kick to Santos's groin, getting himself disqualified.  Go back and take a look at that last sentence.  HE BROKE SANTOS'S PELVIS!

One FC:  Rise of Kings - One FC's latest event took place recently, and there were some good finishes, so let's take a look!

Soccer Kick!

Here's Gianna Subba killing Bruce Loh with a soccer kick.  I love soccer kicks, they're super rad!

Manhoef Wins, Is Scary

Melvin Manhoef punches heads super hard.  I'll detail how hard in a future post, but rest assured, it's crazy super hard.

Here he is knocking out Ryo Kawamura in the first round.

Kim Wins!

Soo Chul Kim knocked out Leandro Issa 15 seconds into round two of their Bantamweight title fight.  Congratulations to Kim for the victory and the new championship!

Boku Beats Moreira

Kotetsu Boku knocked out Zorobabel Moreira in round three of their Lightweight title fight after taking a vicious beating in round two.

In fact, here's a video of the full fight so you can see how much damage Boku took.

Full Event Wrap-up

Here's a video that covers highlights of all the fights, so you should watch that, too.  Take warning that Jens Pulver's testicles get viciously attacked.

Invicta FC 3 - Invicta is an all women's MMA organization, and it is really awesome.  I'm not going to pick and choose for you, just go watch all the fights from Invicta 3, and then catch up on Invicta 2 and 1.

Grab-Bag - All the fights lower than Bellator's B-League, usually with the best chance of hilarity.

Jiu-Jitsu Does Not Work

Here is a fight between Josiah Johnson and Chance Wilson.  Wilson shoots in for a takedown immediately, and after a bit of a struggle, succeeds in getting the fight to the mat.  Johnson starts throwing up submission attempts, though, locking in a triangle choke, and I'll be honest, it looks pretty tight.  Chance Wilson doesn't seem to think so, though, as he just bashes Johnson with hammer fists until Johnson gets knocked out.

The Heat is On

Karo Parisyan has had a very storied past.  He's an Armenian judoka, because all Armenian fighters are judokas, and after yet another failed stint in the UFC, Karo is fighting guys with much cooler names (TIGER BONDS, THE ONLY FINANCIAL INSTRUMENT THAT CAN EVISCERATE YOU!) in what looks like a Wal-Mart parking lot.  Karo staggers TIGER BONDS (I am seriously incapable of not all-capsing that awesome name) early, lands two rad judo throws, then finishes the fight with an armbar.  Hopefully Karo can keep up his winning ways, keep himself clean and get back to the big leagues (Or at least a Big Lots parking lot).

Alexei Roberts - Mortal Kombat Fighter

Here's Alexei "Boom" Roberts defending his Welterweight title against Andy Kerr in England's Shock n Awe promotion.  There are only two things to take note of in this fight:
  • Roberts has a tattoo of the Mortal Kombat logo on his chest
  • Roberts obliterates Kerr in like 15 seconds
AARP Fighting Championships

Let's go to Alaska, where there is no athletic commission to regulate who can or cannot fight!  We've got 62 year old Wayne Smallwood taking on decidedly younger Weeg Hewson (I guess that's a name?).  Wayne displays "old man strength" and knocks out Weeg with a spinning backfist because MMA is hilarious.

Koppu Kick!

Here's a random fight from Russia that isn't so much a fight as it is just a nice koppu kick knockout.  It also features the referee being kind of a dick by lifting the knocked out guy onto unsteady legs to I guess get him out of the ring quicker.  Can't give a guy time to recover or anything!

News

Luke Rockhold injured, Strikeforce probably dead soon?  MMA is going to be the first sport to die off not because of waning fan interest, but because there are no more athletes to actually participate in the sport.  Luke Rockhold was set to defend his Middleweight title against Lorenz Larkin next month, but is out with a wrist injury.  That particular Srikeforce card previously had its co-main event of Daniel Cormier versus Frank Mir fall apart after Mir got injured.  Last month, an entire Strikeforce card was canceled when Gilbert Melendez got hurt and Showtime didn't want to put on the event without a title bout.  With this injury coming a month before, though, there should be time to scramble and find some replacement fighters, that is, if Showtime cares about Strikeforce anymore.

What is going on with Jason Miller?

Here's Jason "Mayhem" Miller on Ariel Helwani's MMA Hour to discuss his role in the new movie "Here Comes the Boom".  Except Miller isn't Miller, but his character in the film, "Lucky Patrick".  I'm not sure if it's just Miller being goofy and Helwani was too dumb to play along, or if Miller is actually crazy.  Either way, it's a super awkward 15 minutes.

Politics and Sports?  Well, I Never!

Here's a clip of Jens Pulver and his younger brother discussing the state of politics today.  Not too much of a shock that the guy who doesn't get punched for a living is far more articulate (I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the guy, I'm just saying he's a lot easier to understand than poor Jens).

I could possibly scrounge a few more random clips, or fights to jam into this post, but I think it's long enough.  I'll try to get a primer for UFC 153 up by Friday, or I'll at least put up videos and GIFs of Stephan Bonnar and Anderson Silva doing cool things.

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s more abrasive than Dana White.

Check out the UFC 153 Weigh-Ins right here.

Preliminary Card (Facebook)

Lightweight – Cristiano Marcello vs. Reza “Mad Dog” Madadi

Middleweight – Luiz "Banha" Cane vs. Chris Camozzi

  • Cane’s Style –Muay thai, BJJ, boxing
  • Camozzi’s Style –BJJ
  • Prediction –Cane's got really good boxing, I'm taking him by knockout.
Check out the rest of the card after the break

Preliminary Card (FX)

Welterweight – Sergio "Serginho" Moraes vs. Renee Forte

  • Moraes’s Style –BJJ
  • Forte’s Style –BJJ (I am guessing here, I don't know this dude)
  • Prediction –I'll take Moraes by submission.

Featherweight – Diego "Ceara" Brandao vs. Joey "the Raging Warrior" Gambino

  • Brandao’s Style –BJJ, Muay Thai
  • Gambino’s Style –Freestyle (Another guess.  I am bad at this!)
  • Alternate Gambino Nicknames – “Childish” Gambino, “Bing-o Bang-o” Gambino
  • Prediction –I'll take Diego to win by submission.

Lightweight – Gleison Tibau vs. Francisco "Massaranduba" Trinaldo

  • Tibau’s Style –Wrestling, BJJ, weight cuts
  • Alternate Tibau Nickname – “Tim” Tibau, whatever's Portuguese for "blanket"
  • Trinaldo’s Style –Kickboxing (Sure, let's go with that)
  • Prediction –Tibau by decision
  • Extra Notes –Tibau might have weighed in for the fight at 155 on Friday, but I'm pretty sure he'll be at least 220 inside the cage.

Featherweight – Rony "Jason" Mariano Bezerra vs. Sam Sicilia

  • Bezerra’s Style –BJJ, Muay Thai
  • Sicilia’s Style –Boxing
  • Prediction – This is a tough call for me, but I'll go with Sicilia by TKO.
  • Extra Notes – Due to the pronunciation weirdness of Portuguese (Or at least Brazilian Portuguese), Bezerra's name and nickname is pronounced "Honey Jason".  Also, Honey Jason cried walking TO the cage for his The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil finals fight.  Do that AFTER you win, Honey.

Main Card (PPV)

Welterweight – Demian Maia vs. Rick “the Horror” Story

  • Maia’s Style – BJJ
  • Story’s Style –Wrestling, kickboxing
  • Prediction –Maia's BJJ is really good.  I don't think it's enough to get a submission, but enough to win the fight.
  •  Extra Notes – Maia jumped atand got killedby Nate Marquardt one time.  Rick Story once got beat by unanimous decision by a guy that found out he was fighting the day before the fight took place.

Light Heavyweight – Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis vs. Wagner "Caldeirao" Prado

Welterweight – Jon Fitch vs. Erick "Indio" Silva

Light Heavyweight – Glover Teixeira vs. Fabio Maldonado

  • Teixeira’s Style –Boxing, BJJ
  • Maldonado’s Style – Boxing
  • Prediction –I'll take Maldonado to TKO Teixeira.
  • Extra Notes –This should be a fun fight.  Maldonado hates ribs and throws horrifying body shots on dudes, and I think roughly forty guys have turned down fights with Teixeira leading up to this fight.

Heavyweight – Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira vs. Dave "Pee Wee" Herman

  • Nogueira’s Style – BJJ, boxing
  • Herman’s Style –Boxing
  • Prediction –Big Nog is going to submit Herman because everyone likes Big Nog and Herman is a dumb dork.
  • Extra Notes –I really hope Dave Herman doesn't let his body hair grow out like he did for his fight with Stefan Struve.  That was way gross.

Light Heavyweight – Anderson “the Spider” Silva vs. Stephan“the American Psycho” Bonnar

  • Silva’s Style – Muay Thai, BJJ
  • Bonnar’s Style – BJJ, boxing
  • Prediction –I really want Bonnar to win because I think he's a cool dude.  Anderson Silva is crazy good, though, and as much as it hurts my heart, I think Silva will win, though at best, it'll be a cut stoppage, Bonnar is un-knockout-able.
  • Extra Notes –Time for the Stephan Bonnar Appreciation Station!  StephanBonnaris aprettyfunnydude, with an entrepreneurial spirit,  and he was involved in one of the most important fights in UFC history.  He is really cool and I will be really sad when Anderson Silva does a bunch of punchings to his face.

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s emptier than Jason Guida’s gas tank.

Fights - A whole lot of fights from a lot of events to cover, let's jump right in with the biggest one of the This Week!

UFC 153 went down on Saturday, and it was one of the best events I've seen in quite some time.

Rony Bezerra vs. Sam Sicilia

"Honey Jason" took on Sam Sicilia on the prelims, and there was lots of fun punches.  Rony hit Sam with some good shots and finished things off with some ground and pound.

Check out more fights and some VERY INTERESTING NEWS after the jump!

Demian Maia vs. Rick Story

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

I anticipated that Story and Maia, both good grapplers, would have a sloppy kickboxing match, because that’s often what happens when to hug-men fight.  What actually happened was Demian Maia did some vicious face-hugs to Rick Story and made head-blood shoot out his nose.  Then Maia finished things off with a neck crank.

Phil Davis vs. Wagner Prado

The first Davis/Prado fight got stopped almost immediately due to an accidental eye poke by Davis to Prado.  The “rematch” saw Davis do a wrestling at will unto Prado, until he finished things off with an anaconda choke.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

At least Prado managed to retrieve his hat from the marauding gang of hat thieves that plague MMA events during his walkout.

Glover Teixeira vs. Fabio Maldonado

Glover Teixeira did probably the most and best punching to a person’s face during his battery of Fabio Maldonado.  Trees take less damage getting turned into pulp for paper before the fight was stopped at the end of the second round.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Dave Herman

Dave Herman claimed that Brazilian jiu-jitsu would not work on him.  What a doofus!  Nogueira got Herman to the mat and finished him off with a very Brazilian jiu-jitsu-y armbar.

I'm sorry, let's see that again.  Ha!

Anderson Silva vs. Stephan Bonnar - Get ready for a GIF overload, there was a lot to highlight in this fight.

Stephan, you poor, slow white guy, all my sads go to you and your attempted punchings.

Not only did Silva dodge pretty much everything Bonnar threw, he kept resetting at the same spot on the cage like a kid trying to unlock a special move in a video game. “No, it says I have to stand between these two corners and when I dodge ten punches in a row, my gloves should flash white and I turn into a dragon.  Dang, I messed up!  Let me try that again.”

Even if Bonnar managed to hit him, Silva pretty much ignored the punches and continued to make Stephan look pathetic.

Then Silva was getting bored, so he decided to kill Bonnar with a knee to the heart.

It was pretty brutal.

Super Fight League 4 - SFL is an Indian-based promotion (I believe the only Indian-based promotion) that, for the previous 3 events, brought in a lot of foreign fighters.  I don't know if there's a money issue, but SFL 4 was pretty much all Indian fighters, but it was still pretty good.  Obligatory SFL theme song BOOM, POW, PUNCH, KICK, WOW!  Super Fight League is now going to be running weekly shows, every Friday, and they can be watched for free (FREE MMA IS BEST MMA) on their YouTube channel, right here.

Bhabajeet Choudhary vs. Charanjeet Singh

Here's a secret - I don't know any of these Indian fighters.  After watching Bhabajeet Choudhary destroy Charanjeet Singh, I want to see more Bhabajeet Choudhary kicking people.

Pawan Maan Singh vs. Srikant Sekhar

Pawan Maan Singh looks to be at least one weight class bigger than Srikant Sekhar, and he basically muscles Sekhar around for the first round.  The second round starts, Sekhar looks exhausted, and Singh ends things with a big right hand.

Manoj Chuhan vs. Biswan Dev

Pretty quick fight here, just a big slam and ground and pound from Chuhan to take care of Dev.

Sanja Sucevic vs. Irene Caballo

We've got a women's match here, and dang, it's really good!  Sanja looks to be a little better than Irene across the board, and proves it with a second round TKO.  Fun, fun fight.

Kultar Singh Gill vs. Amir Wahman

Kultar is pretty much the only Indian fighter I've heard of (He's mostly lost to well-known fighters), and at SFL 3 he kind of went crazy after his win.  In this fight, he flat-out dominates Amir Wahman, finishing him with ground and pound in the first round.  Impressive performance from Kultar.

Bellator 76 was on Friday, and there were some good fights on both the main and preliminary cards.

Magomedrasul Khasbulaev vs. Nayeb Hezam

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

This was a quick fight, Khasbulaev hits Hezam with an overhand right and finishes him off with ground and pound.

Jason Fischer vs. Kyle Prepolec

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Fischer ends things in the third round with a mounted arm triangle choke.  I'm a sucker for arm triangles, so now I'll have to keep an eye out for Fischer's upcoming fights.

Wagnney Fabiano vs. Akop Stepanyan

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Fabiano is crazy good on the ground, and showed it by submitting Stepanyan in the first round.  It wasn't in instantaneous tap, though, as Akop survived for a while until Wagnney adjusted his grip and angle to get the submission.

Mike Richman vs. Jeremy Spoon

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

This was a short fight, just a head kick and some punches to stop Spoon and give Richman the victory.

Eddie Alvarez vs. Patricky Freire

Alvarez and Freire had as much of a war a fight that only lasts 4:54 can be a war.  It was fun stuff, with Alvarez hurting Freire, then Freire coming back to hurt Alvarez.  Then Eddie hits a head kick, finishes Patricky with some punches, and then flees the cage to hang out with the crowd.  This was Eddie’s last fight on his current Bellator contract, so there’s a good chance he’ll be a Zuffa fighter soon (I would assume UFC, but I know some people are still hoping for an Eddie Alvarez/Gilbert Melendez fight)

There's also a highlight video of the main card, which is cool of Bellator to put up.

Grab Bag - Random fights that aren't home to any particular promotion.

Joe Riggs vs. Josh Cavan

Joe "Diesel" Riggs used to weigh over 300 pounds.  He now fights at 170.  He has over 50 fights, but is barely 30 years old.  He was a late replacement against then-UFC Welterweight champion Matt Hughes, but couldn't make weight, so it was a non-title bout, but he got tapped out in the first round.  He recently fought someone named Josh Cavan for not a Welterweight title, or a belt, but for a BATTLE AXE.  That is WAY cooler, and Joe managed to win the fight and the axe in the first round.

Dillon Cleckler vs. Matt Lawrence

I don't think I should even say anything.  Just watch the artistry of Mixed Martial Arts unfold.

News - Oh man, have I got news!

UFC 153 Aftermath, a/k/a Team Black House is cool.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

After Nogueira tapped out Herman, the cameras cut to Anderson Silva getting the news and getting a little emotional due to his trainer's victory.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Then, when Silva was making his walk to the Octagon (Walktagon), Big Nog met up with him and gave a nice bro hug.  D'aww.

Oh, remember when I said Fabio Maldonado's face got wrecked by Glover Teixeira?  Here's some pictures of Fabio afterwards so you can judge for yourself.  Speaking of Glover, he thinks the fight was stopped too prematurely, and that Fabio should have been allowed to continue, because he is a horrible monster that feasts upon corpses, I guess.

Don't worry, Fabio, Dr. Silva will make things okay!

Anderson is a Jedi

Anderson explains his actions inside the cage, basically letting his corner and the world know that he’s got this, no need to get stressed, just “helax”.

 Lyoto's Commercial

I don't speak Portuguese so I don't know what's really going on in this Head and Shoulders commercial, other than Lyoto Machida throws water on a guy and then punches his dandruff off, which is pretty gross.  Then again, Lyoto drinks his own urine, so I guess gross is a relative term.

Cung Le's Character Trailer

Cung Le is a former Strikeforce Middleweight champion that left MMA briefly so he could get tiny parts in awful movies.  Now he's a character in the new movie, The Man With the Iron Fists, playing Bronze Lion and wearing a ridiculous wig.  Of course, I remember what happened the first time Cung Le fought a man with Hands of Steel, so I expect him to fall down when facing whoever the Iron Fisted gentleman is.

BIGGEST AND BEST NEWS EVER!

The Ultimate Fighter Season 17 Coaches - Jon "Bones" Jones and Chael Sonnen!  Oh man, yes!  This is going to be hilarious!  We get to see if Chael can keep up the pace of his pro wrestling schtick against Jones, or if he reverts to "actual human being not trying to hype or sell a fight" mode, we get to see if Jones cracks under weeks and weeks of constant barbs from Chael, and then, after the season is over, we get to see Jon Jones do hilariously violent things to a plodding Middleweight!  Hooray!

This was a super-mega This Week, but there aren't any UFC or Strikeforce events until November 10th, so I'll be scraping the barrel with B-League (Bellator) and below stuff for a while.  I might even try to do a non-This Week or Event Primer write up in the near future.  Been a while since I've talked about a Rad Fight, or a Fantastic Finish, or a Blood Bath (And I've never written up a single Leg Kick TKO, I am a most lamentable dustman)

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s sadder than Jens Pulver.

Fights - There are no UFC events until November 10, so we'll have to make do with B-league and lower level fights.

Bellator 77 - Bellator Fighting Championships had the opening round of their new Lightweight tournament on Friday, and once again helped to provide evidence that Free MMA is Best MMA.  A small highlight video courtesy of Bellator FC can be viewed right here.

Brett Martinez vs. Eric Albright

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Martinez and Albright traded submissions briefly before Martinez finished the fight with a guillotine.

Check out more Bellator and all sorts of other stuff after the jump.

Cosmo Alexandre vs. Mike Bannon

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Cosmo, who you might remember for his guts destruction of Harry Johnson (Still can't believe that's a dude's name), did a lot of punching to Mike Bannon, winning by second round doctor's stoppage.  I wish I could have found footage of Alexandre punching the top of Bannon's feet after Bannon had pulled guard, because it was pretty ridiculous.

Darrell Horcher vs. E.J. Brooks

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Darrell did a big punch and E.J. fell down.  Good stuff.

Ricardo Tirloni vs. Rene Nazare

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Tirloni and Nazare had a nice fight, and Tirloni finished off Nazare with a D'arce choke.

Marcin Held vs. Murad Machaev

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Held is a cool, scrambley fighter that goes for a lot of submissions in a fight, especially leg locks.  He didn't hit any this time, but he did win a unanimous decision.

Dave Jansen vs. Magomed Saadulaev

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Jansen finished off the Amish-looking Russian with a guillotine choke.

Rich Clementi vs. Alexander Sarnavskiy

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Clementi didn't get the rear naked choke shown above, but he did win a split decision victory in a fun fight.

Super Fight League 5 - PUNCH, KICK, WOW!  Once again, India's SFL proved to be pretty rad.  Remember, SFL is running weekly and the fights can be seen for free on its YouTube channel, right here.

Ranjith K vs. Debajit Roy

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

SFL 5 was basically the Night of Finishes, Specifically Chokes.  Here's Ranjith K tapping Debajit Roy with a guillotine choke.

Rajesh Sallan vs. Sarabjit Singh

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

And now we have Rajesh Sallan winning by rear naked choke.

Manjit Kolekar vs. Ritika Singh

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Women's MMA results in not a choke, but a TKO as Manjit Kolekar pounds out Ritika Singh.

Rajinder Singh Meena vs. Amitesh Chaubey

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Another guillotine finish as Rajinder Singh Meena defeats Amitesh Chaubey.

Sandeep Yadav vs. Amit Kumar

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Yadav wins by guillotine because they are half-price, now through next Tuesday.

Lakhwinder Singh Sekhon vs. Mohamed Abdel Mahid

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Sekhon wins by rear naked choke, and hopefully India's oxygen shortage can get solved so everyone doesn't have to get choked out.

Grab Bag - Random fights from random places across this random world!  RAAAANDOOOM!

Nick Wollum vs. Gary O'Connell

Heayvweight (Or, in this case, Super Heavyweight) fights are usually pretty hilarious, and this fight is no exception.  Holy macaroni, This Gary O'Connell, y'all.

Kim Hoon vs. Justin Murray

Legend FC 3 looks to have a bit more production value than the previous fight, and this contest between Hoon and Murray is pretty fun.  It doesn't last long, though, so keep your lookin'-balls peeled and unblinking.

Wael Gharieb vs. Mat Shannon

Despite coming from the hoary wasteland that is Canada, this fight is good if you are a grapple fan.  Basically one guy is just skilled enough to not get submitted instantly, but that's about it.

Kaline Medeiros vs. Stephanie Eggink

Here's a women's fight that features a nice overhand punch and a "falling tree" knockout.  Yeesh!

Ivhan Bibiatov vs. Mateusz Piechochki

This is a three second knockout because head kicks are deadly.  Good job, Polish guy!

News - All kinds of things happed this week in the dumb world of MMA.  Here's like two of those things, maybe more!

Jason Miller Talks with Ariel Helwani

Jason "Mayhem" Miller has had a rough couple of months. After injuring both knees in a loss to CB Dolloway that led to him getting cut from the UFC, Miller was arrested in a church, allegedly naked at the timeRecently, he was on Ariel Helwani's show to ostensibly promote the movie Here Comes the Boom, but referred to himself as the character "Lucky Patrick".  Now Miller is spending an hour with Helwani, walking through Central Park, to I guess clear the air.  Miller's claiming the Patrick stunt was part science experiment and part prank.  It's an interesting interview, even though I don't take everything Miller says as being entirely truthful.

Shinya Aoki is Best Dad

Shinya Aoki is a grappling wizard of the highest order, and he looks to be passing the skills along to his kid by working on submissions.  You gotta fight the hands, Baby Aoki!

Antonio Nogueira is the Best Mummy

Remember Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira versus Dave "Pee Wee" Herman from UFC 153?  If "Big Nog" seemed sluggish during the fight, there's a reason for that.  He broke a rib a few weeks before the fight, got a local anesthetic and still submitted Herman.  Nogueira is basically the tanker from Mad Max at this point, just full of sand.

Old Lady Wants to Punch Dudes

Recently, I put up a link to 61-year old Sue Hemenway's MMA debut.  Now, 56-year old Khandace Cossitt wants to enter the world of MMA, except she wants to fight a man.  It does help that she's 6'5" and claims to have decked a lot of guys, I guess.  I'm sure if nothing else, she'll get a chance in Alaska, or somewhere else with no regulating commission to put a stop to insanity like this.

RIP Jeff Blatnick

“What do you practice for? What do you train for? To improve”

Blatnick had planned on wrestling in the 1980 Olympics, but the USA boycotted the games.  In 1982, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease, had his spleen and appendix removed and underwent radiation treatment.  In 1984, Blatnick defeatedSweden’s Tomas Johansson for the gold medal, a feat even more impressive after Johanssontested positive for Methenolone, an anabolic steroid.  After his victory, Blatnick was chosen to be Team USA’s flag bearer during the closing ceremony.  A year later, Blatnick suffered a relapse of Hodgkin's, overcame it again, and officially retired by 1988.

Jeff went on to work as a commentator for both Olympic wrestling and UFC 4 through 32.  He also spent some time as the commissioner of the UFC.  He constantly worked to get MMA legalized and accepted, and his work on the Mixed Martial Arts Council Manual was a precursor to the current Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts.  He not just a MMA judge, but pretty much the best MMA judge.  His method for scoring rounds makes the most sense to me, and I wish it would get adopted across the board for all judges.

Here's a clip of Blatnick explaining that he never set out to become an Olympian, he just wanted to be the best each time he stepped onto the mat.

Blatnick Talks Wrestling, MMA, and Judging

In one of his most recent interviews, Jeff Blatnick speaks with Luke Thomas about wrestling and judging in MMA.

Jeff Blatnick Wins Gold

I'll finish with the last minutes of Blatnick's gold medal contest in the 1984 Olympics.  Full match, minus his emotional interview, can be found here.

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s less predictable than Genki Sudo.

Fights - As always, fights happened, and I'm here to give a brief synopsis of the cool parts, and whatnot.

Bellator 78 - As usual, Bellator Fighting Championships had a good event on Friday that was kind of marred by some bad refereeing in the co-main and main event.

McNally Beats Blattman

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Justin McNally made extremely short work of Dave Blattman, choking him into unconsciousness with a triangle in under 40 seconds.

Parlo Clips Combs's Beard

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Mikkel Parlo finished off Jared Combs in just under four minutes with a TKO.

Check out more Bellator fights, Super Fight League (BOOM, POW, PUNCH, KICK, WOW!), some more randomly grabbed fights, plus some fight news, including Halloween costumes after the jump.

Horne Harms Houston

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Billy Horne needed just 3:30 to end Trey Houston's night and undefeated record with a rear naked choke. The best part is now Houston's nickname can be used to mock him. Yes, Trey, "That Just Happened".

Butcher Chops Heads

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Jason Butcher fought Shaun Asher and finished him off with a guillotine choke in just over 90 seconds into the first round.  Nice stuff from Butcher.

Gurgel Busts Up Noland

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Zoila Frausto Gurgel and Casey Noland had a pretty fun fight that saw Gurgel cut Noland with some sharp elbows en route to a unanimous decision victory.  I would have liked to see Gurgel on the main card instead of the prelims, especially since she's the reigning Women's Strawweight champion (Though this fight was at Flyweight), but it was a good cap to the prelims.

Rogers Smashes Steele

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Brian Rogers is now officially a full-time fighter, no longer teaching on the side.  This is bad news for the rest of the Bellator Middleweight divsion, since he was knocking out guys while holding down a day job.  He didn't manage to finish Dominique Steele, though, but won a convincing unanimous decision.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Also, let the record show that Steele is WAY GROSS.

Strauss Submits Robinson

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Daniel Strauss is the most recent Featherweight tournament champion, but he's got to wait for Pat Curran and Patricio Freire to fight before he gets his title shot.  To keep busy, he ran through Alvin Robinson, a black belt under Royce Gracie that has never submitted anyone half-way competent on the ground (Also, this marks Robinson's sixth submission loss).

Koreshkov Kills Zaromskis

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

In the first Welterweight tournament semi-final match, Andrey Koreshkov utilized his reach advantage to beat the crap out of Marius Zaromskis.  Andrey dropped Marius and followed up with punches while referee Jerry Poe apparently got distracted by some mischevious gnomes and let Zaromskis take at least seven unnecessary punches to the head and facial region.  I can't really faul Koreshkov here, as the standard is to stop only when the referee intervenes.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

It reminded me of another attrociously late stoppage in Bellator, the time Pat Curran punched Joe Warren for what felt like an entire round until finally the fight was called.

Good Does Punches, Tsarev Does Fallsy-Downsies

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

In the main event and second Welterweight semi-final match, Lyman Good beat Michail Tsarev in the second round.  It looked like Tsarev got poked in the eye and made a motion to clue in referee Greg Franklin to this.  Franklin didn't see the foul and didn't pause the fight so Good continued his attack and kept punching Tsarev.  Again, I can't fault Good here, as the order to all fighters is "protect yourself at all times".  Some referees allow fighters to essentially call their own fouls, but in this instance, Greg Franklin is not one of those referee.

Super Fight League 6 - SFL now moves at warp speed, as only one fight out of seven went the distance, and only one other made it past the first round.  Another reminder, you can catch all of the Super Fight League events right here.

Tokas vs. Chauhan

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Mohit Tokas started the event off by beating Love Chauhan in just 2:25.

Chovan vs. Rahaman

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Suresh Chovan didn't even need a full mintue before he submitted Motirul Rahaman with a shoulder choke.  I don't really know why, but I really like wonky chokes like this.  I could watch people get Von Flue'd all day.

Kumar vs. Babu

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Kapil Kumar was a bit slower, taking nearly 8 full minutes before getting a TKO stoppage over Sharath Babu, but he did have some rad slams.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Lots of rad slams indeed.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Kumar finished off Babu by punching him in the butt, a sound tactic!

Singh vs. Das

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Gurvinder Singh finished Subrata Das with a neck crank in the first round.  Neck cranks aren't too common outside of lower level stuff like SFL, but I appreciate them in all forms (If I weren't a lazy idiot, I'd have a post about Chan Sung Jung's twister over Leonard Garcia)

Petkar vs. Solanki

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Abhijeet Petkar took on and punched out Harish Solanki in under two minutes.  SFL is so fun!

Schneider vs. Saber

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Colleen Schneider elbowed her way to a TKO victory over Aya Saeid Saber in just under four minutes.  Elbow stoppages, yay!

Da Silva vs. Foupa-Pokam

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Claudio Henrique Da Silva went the distance against Xavier Foupa-Pokam in the main event, winning a unanimous decision.

Grab Bag - Random fights from around the globe!

Let the Boys be Boys and Just Slam!

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Here is the information I know about what is happening here:  The two men are Anatoliy Didenko and Alexey Krupnyakov at an event called ProFC 43 - Baltic Challenge and that Krupnyakov ultimately wins the match by guillotine choke at 1:10 in round 1.  I imagine it is Didenko doing the actual slamming considering the way he gives up his neck, but I don't know that for certain.  Honestly, though, it doesn't really matter who is slamming whom, just that some glorious slamming is going on.

Double Knock-Out

Double KOs are usually pretty cool, but this one just seems so sad, but thankfully some heroic DJ decides to play "We are the Champions" to lighten the mood.  Good job!

Hit Me!

Similar to hands down stupidity, but even dumber.  Good job, dummy!

Drew Fickett is Making Me Sad

Drew Fickett started his career 12-0, from 1999 through 2000.  By the time he reached the UFC in 2005, he was 24-2.  His last fight in the UFC was in 2007 and he was 30-5.  By the end of 2009, he was 36-13, while 2010 saw him finish at 40-13.  Since 2011, up to this fight, he is now 42-19, and I really want him to retire before he does too much lasting damage to his body.

News - Here's some stuff that happened in the world of MMA that isn't fights.

Costume Time! - With Halloween coming up, lots of fighters are showing off their costumes, so here they are

Seth "Venom" Petruzelli

Ryan "Yes, I went to Arizona State, why do you ask?" Bader

Antonio "Frankenstein's Monster" Silva

Felice "Cammy" Herrig

Alistair "Venom" Overeem

And the proof that's it's really Overeem.

Joe "Ghostbuster" Lauzon

Quinton "Batman" Jackson

Rich Guy Problems!

Dana White, president of the UFC, recently said that the UFC is pulling all events from the Palms Resort and Casino (The Palms typically hosts the finale of each season of The Ultimate Fighter) because his credit line was recently halved.  So now the staff of the casino won't be benefiting from the five-figure tips he regularly lays out because the new owners had to tighten the purse strings a little and made White feel less special.

That is literally everything that has happened this week in MMA.  Nothing else to talk about, at all.  Nope.  Don't forget, every Friday is Super Fight League and Bellator.  Watch free MMA (It is Best MMA)

Fighter Retrospective - Genki Sudo

$

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s a worse judge of fights than Cecil Peoples.

Fighter Retrospectives is when I take a look back at retired fighters (Or at least a guy that’s been fighting at least 15 years) and try to convince you why they are super-duper awesome.   Today, the focus is on the Transforming Trickster, the Neo-Samurai, Genki Sudo.

Wull, why should I care about this guy? (That’s you)

Genki Sudo is probably my favorite fighter that I never saw live, and sometimes he’s my favorite fighter, period, with no qualifications.  He was predominantly a grappler, having done Greco-Roman wrestling in high school, and then later taking up Brazilian jiu-jitsu.  His striking wasn’t awful, and he even fought in some K-1 kickboxing bouts (to extremely limited success, going 2-4), but his hugging prowess easily overshadows his kickpuncher skills.  What really draws me to Sudo is his ability to mix showmanship with skill.  He had ridiculous entrances that not only blew most other fighter entrances out of the water (Pretty easy, since other than like five dudes all walk-outs are boring and bland), but were way better than a lot of professional wrestling entrances, too.  The antics didn’t stop inside the ropes (Or, for like three fights, the cage), though.  Genki would dance around during a fight, dropping his hands to do the robot, turn his back on his opponent, and basically refuse to take things seriously.  He claimed it was never to embarrass or make fun of his opponent, but his attempts at elevating the fight to a true art form.  His overarching message is We Are All One, a concept he enforced by carrying a banner with that phrase and various flags of the world stitched onto it.

Okay, wull, lemme see some of these “awesome entrances” I guess.  (You, again)

A Genki Sudo entrance is a great thing to behold because it always involves costumes, backup dancers, rad, choreographed moves, and usually the dramatic removal of the aforementioned costume.

He’s walked out to the fight as, among other things, several differentspacerobots, a Chinese drunken boxer, some sort of aboriginal person, and Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn.

Check out more Genki Sudo radness after the jump.

I guess some of those were pretty snazzy, but how good was he in a fight?  Like, probably just kinda “meh”, huh? (You’re kind of a jerk, you know that?)

I’ve already written about one of Sudo’s fights, and that ended with a giant swing transitioned into an Achilles’ lock.

His other bouts might not have such dramatic and crazy-insane endings, but they do feature a lot of cool grappling, erratic dancing, and plenty of spinning back fists.  The latter two items were prevalent because of the first, since Genki had no fear of being taken down because he could pretty much grapple his way out of any bad situation.

He was an amazing fighter that has done some impressive things, like submitting the enormous Eric “Butterbean” Esch, despite a 250 pound weight disadvantage (Though Sudo probably had a much bigger advantage in terms of skill and MMA experience) because Japan loves freaks show fights with a passion.  Overall, Sudo amassed a 16-3-1 record, only being stopped once by a very questionable technical knockout to former supreme radman, Norifumi “Kid” Yamomoto.  Sudo inexplicably retired in 2006, at just 28, claiming he was going to focus on transitioning into the Fourth Dimension.

WAT (Yeah, I know, kind of strange, but Sudo is a uniquely weird cat)

Sudo’s post-fight career and activities are just as interesting as his fight life.  After retiring, Sudo kept very busy.  He’s managed an over-30 baseball team, acted in a Kamen Rider series or two (As somekind of gay hug-man, I think?), tried to transition to the Fourth Dimension (Though he’s said reliance upon the material world has kept him tied to the 3.5thDimension at best, for now at least), directed and starred in a segment of a movie called The R246 Story (His segment is about UFOs), and also has built up a music career.

Music, huh?  So, what, he’s some kinda tunesmith or somethin'? (Hey, you’re right for once!)

Genki Sudo is the writer, composer, choreographer, lead dancer and sole singer of the group World Order.  Despite the fact that I do not understand any Japanese (Though this is helpful), I find World Order’s videos fascinating, mostly due to the intricate choreography present in each one.

It’s mostly weird unison dancing and movements, and I’m compelled to watch each video over and over.

What can we learn from Genki Sudo?
  •  Flying triangles are rad
  • Spinning backfists are also rad
  • Mid-fight dance breaks are another rad thing
  • WE ARE ALL ONE

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s spiraling downwards more than Drew Fickett.

Fights - In addition to the Bellator, Super Fight League (PUNCH KICK WOW) and random grab bag fights, there was also World Series of Fighting 1 going down on Saturday.  Hooray for new MMA organizations!

Bellator 79 - There were some vicious beatings doled out to people with ridiculous choices in personal grooming (So, pretty standard for a MMA event).

Minakov vs. Starcencov

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Bellator has a ton of Russian fighters, and sometimes, they get matched up (Though Starcencov is technically Russian-Canadian).  Vitaly Minakov punched Vladimir Starcencov in the face for a while until Vladimir fell down.

Ford vs. Baker

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

In the first of two "guy what looks dumb gets beaten up" fights, Ryan Ford punched the ridiculous out of Kyle Baker's mustache and bald head on the way to a unanimous decision victory.

Check out more from Bellator, SFL, WSoF, and much more after the jump!

Lima vs. Ortiz

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

This is the second "let's pulp a dumb guy" fight, and Douglas Lima was more than up to the challenge of punching Jacob Ortiz for three rounds.  Ortiz valiantly (Or maybe just dumbly) fought on, getting stopped with just 10 seconds remaining in a fight he was probably losing badly on the score cards.

Shamhalaev vs. Richman

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

In a Featherweight tournament semi-final, Shahbulat Shamhalaev knocked out Mike Richman in under two minutes.  I like Shamhalaev, but I've got to admit, his name is a bit of a nightmare.

Hale vs. Santos

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

I was calling this fight Dick Hale versus Dick Hurtz, but luckily, there were no groin shots in this Heavyweight tournament semi-final.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Hale survived an onslaught from Santos early, managed to recover, and finished Santos with a tiny little baby punch.

Super Fight League 7 - As has been the case since SFL moved to weekly cards, one fight went to a decision and everything else got finished by round two.

Grewal vs. Varma

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Narender Grewal did something I've never seen before.  He submitted Siddharth Varma with an arm-in rear naked choke (Though maybe I just haven't seen the numerous illegal, underground MMA matches taking place in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, NY).

Kooheji vs. Barve

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Hamza Kooheji finished off Swapnil Barve very early in round two with a guillotine choke after setting it up with some nice Muay Thai clinch knees.

Kadian vs. Abas

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Puja Kadian had a cool slam and finished Walaa Abas with ground and pound for the TKO victory.

Kumar vs. Singh

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Anup Kumar choked out Varinder Singh early into round one with a rear naked choke.

Singh vs. Pereira

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Daniel Amar Singh made crazy short work of Michael Pereira, ending the fight in 0:23 with a standing guillotine choke.  I sometimes wonder if half the fighters in SFL know what submissions are and how to defend them.  Then I just watch another quick fight and don't care.

Page vs. Tantawy

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

MichaelPage is a tremendously talented kickboxer that makes his scrub opponents looks hilariously inept.  He's basically the British, B-league equivalent to Anderson Silva.  Here, he's punching Haitham Tantawy on the way to a first round TKO by way of doctor stoppage due to cuts.

World Series of Fighting 1 - The inagural event (DUH) of the Ray "Sugarfoot" (Nothing to do with the King of the Hill barbecue joint) Sefo-backed organization was pretty good, except there were issues with the preliminary fights.

Cavalcante vs. O'Brien

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Gesias "JZ" Cavalcante did horrible things to T.J. O'Brien's leg in order to get a submission victory.  Horrible, disturbing things that should never be done to any kind of legs.

Burkman vs. Harris

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

In a battle of former UFC guys, Josh Burkman defeated Gerald Harris despite spending 2:27 in a guillotine choke in round two.  Of course, all that time trying to get the tap pretty much drained Harris's arms, leaving them dead for the third round.

Spong vs. Bartlett

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

It's being reported that seven other opponents turned down the fight with Spong, who was making his professional MMA debut.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Of course, he had over 100 professional kickboxing fights under his belt, so he wasn't a complete amateur, though he will have to learn that there's no 8-count in MMA and don't just walk away from a downed opponent unless the referee intervenes.

Johnson vs. Linderman

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Anthony Johnson knocked D.J. Linderman into an apparent brief death after it looked like Johnson got poked in the eye.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Referee Herb Dean didn't pause the action, so Johnson was forced to stop things for good with a devastating right hand.  Thankfully Linderman got up shortly after the punch.

Arlovski vs. Cole

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Andrei Arlovski punched Devin Cole in the head, and that made me really happy because Cole is kind of a big creep.

Grab Bag - Bunch of random fights from around the globe.  Yay, fights!

Baby Fights!

Kolbe "Lil Sarge" De Los Angeles took on Yahir Nieto, and despite being outweighed by 40 pounds, won with a rear naked choke.  Did I mention that both fighters look to be about ten years old?  This seems kind of shady.

Giant vs. G-Money

This is a nice palate cleanser from the child's MMA.  Here we have Giant and G-Money, both in stocking feet because why not?  I was not expecting Giant to survive on the ground, or to have slick submission skills of his own, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Charles Kessinger

Charles Kessinger was paralyzed in a MMA fight in March 2011 after his opponent struck him with an illegal elbow to the spine.  On October 13, 2012, Kessinger made his pro debut, which he wins by ground and pound.  Congratulations on the recovery and victory, Charles!

News - Not too much in the way of news this week (Mostly because, as I've said in the past, I'm too lazy to spend fifty paragraphs talking about how Fighter A is hurt, so now Fighter B is matched up against Fighter C, which does dominate a lot of the MMA "news" world), just a few videos of note to share.

Chris Weidman's House is Gone

UFC Middleweight contender Chris Weidman's house suffered quite a bit of damage as a result of Sandy this past week.

THE BANG BROS

Time to add some levity to this post!  I don't really cover The Ultimate Fighter reality show, mostly because they are exhibition fights.  I might do seasonal recaps, though, because TUF is always good for at least one or two moments of pure insanity every season.  Thanks to Julian Lane, it's more like two moments every episode.  I thin context kind of ruins the moment, so I'll just let this stand for itself.

Just kidding!  Of course I'm going to explain the hell out of this!  Mohawk guy is Julian Lane, and he's an insane idiot.  He revealed that his wife is currently pregnant and working two jobs to support the family while Julian is on TUF, trying to win a UFC contract.  Julian lost his fight, and barring injury, is out of the competition, and the running for the contract.  He now spends his time away from training getting drunk and trying to instigate fights with the other house mates.  Prior to the clip, he had been trying to get Dom Waters to fight him in the house, which is a rules violation and would get both guys kicked off the show.

Riddle/Randleman BEEF

KevinRandleman hates Matt Riddle, and is more than willing to scream about it.  According to Randleman, Riddle owes Kevin some money and this apparently lead to Riddle saying something disrespectful about Randleman's wife, so now Kevin "the Monster" Randleman flips out whenever Matt "Deep Waters" Riddle's name is brought up (Again, according to Randleman).  RAGE!

Huerta for ALPHA NAIL

Roger Huerta is currently endorsing Alpha Nail, a nail polish for DUDES that is just TOO EXTREME for a delicate lady's fingernails.  Besides, this is scientifically formulated to increase a man's SWAGGER coefficient to increase the likelihood that he'll end up BANGING CHICKS.  Also, lol, the matte colors include "cocaine" and "benjamins".

Well, I guess that's about it for this week.  UFC on Fuel in Macau is on Saturday (Morning), so I'll try and get an Event Primer up for that.

Event Primer - UFC on Fuel: Franklin vs. Le

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s spiraling downwards more than Drew Fickett.

UFC on Fuel:  Franklin vs. Le is coming live from Macau at like 9AM ET on Saturday, yeesh.  Here are the fights!

Facebook Prelims

Welterweight - David "Daudi" Mitchell vs. Hyun Gyu "The Ace" Lim
  • Mitchell's Style - Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
  • Alternate Mitchell Nicknames - David "HENNIMORE!" Mitchell
  • Lim's Style - Boxing
  • Prediction - Lim will do some ferocious punching upon Mitchell's countenance and win via knockout.
  • Thoughts - Mitchell is kinda cool because his fight with TJ Waldburger had roughly fifty submission attempts every minute of every round (Ineffective grappling is really fun sometimes).  I've never seen Lim fight, so I'm probably SUPER WRONG on the prediction (But, I'm SUPER WRONG on predictions between two fighters I've seen fight for years, so I guess I'm just awful at picks)

Middleweight - Riki Fukuda vs. Tom DeBlass
  • Fukuda's Style - Wrestling
  • DeBlass's Style - BJJ
  • Prediction - Fukuda will grind DeBlass into a wrestley paste, win by decision.
  • Thoughts -I like that both Fukuda and DeBlass have stoppages over guys that have lost spectacularly in the UFC (Fukuda TKO'd Brandon Wolff, who got MURDERED by Ben Saunders's Muay Thai clinch knees, and DeBlass Achilles locked Sean Salmon, who took a hilarious head kick KO from Rashad Evans)

Flyweight - Yashuhiro Urushitani vs. John "Hands of Stone" Lineker
  • Urushitani's Style - Hugs, some punches
  • Lineker's Style - Punches
  • Prediction - Lineker by punches, TKO.
  • Thoughts - This should be a mega-fun fight (TINY PUNCHMEN BEST PUNCHMEN).  I'm a little conflicted on the prediction, since Lineker lost to green haired dingus Louis Gaudinot, while Urushitani defeated currently Flyweight #1 contender, John Dodson (Though that was 8 years ago, so it's hardly useful).  Whatever, I think Lineker has enough power to put Urushitani to sleep.

Bantamweight - Alex "Bruce Leeroy" Caceres vs. Motonobu Tezuka
  • Caceres's Style -Submissions
  • Tezuka's Style -Grappling
  • Prediction -Tezuka by excessive hugging (Decision)
  • Thoughts -I don't know anything about Tezuka, but Caceres is pretty much average at best (So watch him turn in the best performance ever and make me look even more dumber)
Check out the rest of the card after the jump!

Main Card

Bantamweight - Takeya Mizugaki vs. Jeff "Hellbound" Houghland
  • Mizugaki's Style - Striking
  • Houghland's Style -BJJ
  • Prediction - Mizugaki is probably better at most everything than Houghland, so I see him taking a decision.
  • Thoughts - Mizugaki has been matched  up with some very tough competition since he came under Zuffa contract, so I hope he gets a bit of an easy win, he has fun fights.

Lightweight - Tiequan "The (Mongolian) Wolf" Zhang vs. Jon "The Super Saiyan" Tuck
  • Zhang's Style - Wrestling, BJJ (Guillotines)
  • Tuck's Style - BJJ
  • Alternate Tuck Nicknames - Jon "Friar" Tuck, Jon "What the" Tuck
  • Prediction - Tuck by knockout, probably in the first round.
  • Thoughts - So Tuck's another Dragon Ball Z inspired fighter?  That brings the total to 3 that have fought in the UFC (Tuck, Marcus Brimage, and Carlos Newton), at least to my knowledge.  I know it seems odd to say Tuck is a BJJ guy (He does have a brown belt, same as Zhang) and claim he'll win by KO, but his wins are evently split, and he's the only person to knockout Eduard Folayang (In just 8 seconds, too!)

Lightweight - Takanori "The Fireball Kid" Gomi vs. Mac Danzig
  • Gomi's Style - Boxing, Wrestling
  • Alternate Gomi Nicknames - Takanori "Box-head" Gomi, Takanori "Garbage" Gomi
  • Danzig's Style -Grappling, boxing
  • Alternate Danzig Nicknames - Mac "Bring Me Soup" Danzi(n)g
  • Prediction - Please let Gomi punch Danzig in the head really hard and very often until a falling down happens.
  • Thoughts - Danzig takes really goodpictures of things.

Welterweight - Dong Hyun "Stun Gun" Kim vs. Paulo Thiago
  • Kim's Style - Judo, kickboxing
  • Alternate Kim Nicknames - Dong Hyun "Doggone" Kim, Dong Hyun "Dadgum(mit)" Kim
  • Thiago's Style -BJJ, judo, boxing
  • Prediction -I like both dudes, but I think Kim is better at grapples, and that's usually how Thiago loses (Minus the face implosion from Siyar Bahadurzada), so I think Kim decisions Thiago.
  • Thoughts -Paulo is a cop, so he might arrest Kim after the fight.

Light Heavyweight - Thiago Silva vs. Stanislav "Stucky" Nedkov
  • Silva's Style - Muay Thai, BJJ
  • Nedkov's Style -BJJ
  • Prediction -Nedkov by TKO
  • Thoughts -Silva hasn't really been the same since he got KO'd by Machida, and I think he'll continue to struggle.

Main Event

Middleweight - Rich "Ace" Franklin vs. Cung Le
  • Franklin's Style -Kickboxing, BJJ
  • Le's Style -Sanshou (AKA Weird kickboxing), kickboxing, wrestling
  • Prediction -Franklin by TKO.
  • Thoughts - I'm surprised this isn't taking place at Franklinweight (190 - 195).  This should be a good battle of dudes with really jacked up noses.

Join me on Saturday at the With Leather Live Event Discussion to talk about the fights!

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s more of a joke than Kimbo Slice.

Fights - Hey, UFC fights are back, yay!  Plus Bellator and SFL (PUNCH KICK WOW) as always (Well, not always, Bellator's season ends in a month, and I don't know if SFL is going to literally run every week or not).

Bellator 80 - On this edition of Bellator Fighting Championships, the finals for the Heavyweight and Featherweight tournaments were set up, plus former champion and self-proclaimed "Baddest Man on the Planet", Joe Warren returned to see if he would get knocked out for the third fight in a row.

    DeRocher vs. Krahl

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Ryan DeRocher punched Taylor Krahl, and now Taylor has to crawl everywhere he goes.  I am the worst.

    Vedepo vs. Bernhard

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

This is some crazy stuff.  Bernhard throws a kick and slips, so Vedepo dives into guard, and gets stuck in a triangle.  Vedepo jams his shin and knee all up in Bernhard's neck, and eventually postures up enough and the pressure causes Bernhard to tap out.

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

So, ladies and gentlemans, here is the Vedepo choke.  If works perfectly against dorks too dumb to let go of a crappy triangle to avoid getting themselves choked out.

Check out more Bellator, SFL, UFC and other fights, plus lots of news after the jump!

    Alexandre vs. Quayhagen

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

I've talked about CosmoAlexandre a few times in the past and how rad he is.  Unfortunately, Quayhagen did let himself get punched around a bunch in hilarious fashion.  Alexandre still won an unanimous decision, but I was hoping for something a little cooler.

    Souza vs. Otani

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Good gravy, Cristiano Souza punched the mess outta Robert Otani.  Like, dang, yo, just straight up face punched all to bits.

    Cooper vs. Cobb

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Cooper beat up Cobb for pretty much 15 minutes straight, and it was pretty fun to watch.  Also, chicken Cooper is better than corn on the Cobb.

    Volkov vs. Queiroz

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

In the battle of Tall Guys, slightly taller, much more Russianier fighter beat the way more Brazilish guy with some good punches, and some pretty questionable refereeing, as Queiroz got warned for leading in with his head (A legal tactic), and got stood up after about 15 seconds into a takedown that pretty much led to the knockout.

    Martinez vs. Fabiano

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

YAY RAD MARTINEZ!  I really hope and want Rad Martinez to win all of the Bellators, I don't even care that he is a grown man named Rad, his life is too upsetting to me to consider him losing.

    Warren vs. Evinger

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Joe Warren did a heck of a lot of grapples against Owen Evinger (One of Tanya Evinger's baby brothers!).  Like, maybe all of the grapples, I'm not certain, I don't have a catalog of grapples handy.

SFL 8 - Super Fight League keeps running weekly shows at an insane pace, with the standard "one decision, everything else is a stoppage" format.  Slight change, though, as only the decision fight left the first round.

    Yadav vs. Singh

Pretty quick submission victory for Sandeep Yadav over Palwinder Singh.

    Chuhan vs. Idrisi

Manoj Chuhan took almost four minutes to dispatch Alam Idrisi with punches because Super Fight League doesn't mess around.

    Kandare vs. Singh

Bharat Kandare choked out Pushpender Singh in 80 seconds because HURRY UP, NEXT FIGHT, NEXT FIGHT!

    Bhat vs. Bhat (WHAT?)

Sachin Bhat submitted Nikhil Bhat in less than 40 seconds.  TOO MANY BHATS, I AM CONFUSED.

    Lockwood vs. Deepika

Tracy Lockwood beat Deepika with a submission in the first round because SFL needs to be out of the arena in like twenty minutes, please finish quickly!

    McKenna vs. Singh

Tom McKenna submitted Hardeep Singh with a Brabo choke, and it almost took a whole 5 minute round to do it!  I like Brabo chokes, any kind of arm-y grabby chokes are interesting to me.

    Troyer vs. Novikov

In the longest fight of the night, John Troyer defeated Vasily Novikov by decision, meaning the fight lasted 15 minutes.  That must feel like an eternity if everything beforehand lasted on average, 2:15.  That's 6 2/3 times longer than the average fight!  But it was just 15 minutes.  Super Fight League, I love you.

UFC on Fuel 6 (Or UFC on Fuel:  Macao, or UFC on Fuel:  Franklin vs. Le) - TUF fights are usually bad, so it was great to have real, actual UFC fights again.  The only problem is that it was way early.  The bunch of decisions was a little frustrating, but I didn't mind them too much.

    Caceres vs. Tezuka

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Alex Caceres won a decision over Motonobu Tezuka, and this was a cool thing he did in the fight.

    Kim vs. Thiago

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

As I predicted (6-3 total, with 3 correct method of victory picks!), Dong Hyun Kim out grappled Paulo Thiago to a decision victory.  I didn't anticpate "Stun Gun" to throw double axe handles during the fight, though it was pretty neat!

    Silva vs. Nedkov

Poor Stucky Nedkov.  He probably had the fight close to in the bag, as I thought he edged out rounds one and two, but then Thiago Silva remembered he knew how to wrestle, and wrestle he did.  Silva got mount on Stanislav, then hopped to the side to finish things off with an arm triangle choke (Another choke/submission I like).

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Then Silva got creepy-scary with his post-fight celebration.  I'm pretty sure he's in your house right now, waiting to do a murder to you.

    Le vs. Franklin

I HATE THIS DUMB SPORT SO MUCH!

    REALLY HATE IT SOMETIMES!

SO STUPID, WHY DO I WATCH IT?

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

    AT LEAST THERE ARE FLIPZ

    Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

AND CONVULSING DUDES.  WHATEVER, I'M GONNA GO WATCH THE FIRST CUNG LE VERSUS SCOTT SMITH FIGHT AND LE VERSUS WANDERLEI SILVA.  BLARG.

Grab Bag - As always, here's a collection of random fights found across the internets and jammed together here.

    Bird vs Barry

Sheila Bird is memorable for choking Kim Couture into unconsciousness while the referee apparently was taking a brief nap.  Now Bird is back, and knocked out Christina Barry in just 11 seconds.  PLEASE DO NOT DO MMAS TO ME, SHEILA BIRD!

    Brody Roberts

Here's Brody Roberts punching a dude very quickly.  Rad!

    Phoenix Jones

I usually wouldn't post video of "street MMA" because it's awful and terrible and I don't like implying a connection between MMA and bum fights.  I will make a small exception for actual MMA dudes doing fights in a street (Technically this one is on a sidewalk).  Phoenix Jones is a vigilante/real life superhero, lesser known as Ben Fodor, mixed martial artist (And brother to Strikeforce fighter, Caros Fodor).  Apparently Washington state allows for mutual combat between two consenting parties without repercussion, as police officers observe the fight and do nothing.  Fodor uses a lot of leg kicks, then knocks the guy out.  Good job using your MMA training to defeat a belligerent asshole!

    Old Man, Has Strength

Fifty-six year old Don "Grandpa" Williams fought his last bout recently.  I had no idea there even was such a person named Don "Grandpa" Williams until this week, but I'm kind of sad he's retiring to get his knees replaced.  He comes to the cage, holding a cane aloft, and gets the submission victory with a nice arm triangle.  Farewell, "Grandpa"!

    Beebe vs. Wright

Chase Beebe has fought in WEC and Bellator.  Here he is taking out Javon Wright in short order.  I wonder if he (Or his baby brother)

    Baby Muay Thais

In Thailand, kids start doing Muay Thai to each other pretty much seconds after birth.  Here's a fighter named Pee winning by body kick knockout.  You can't judge them, it is a different culture!

News - A few interesting pieces of news, some of which involves a murderer.

Bellator is Awful, Then Kind of Good

Bellator Fighting Championship has gotten some criticism in the past for the fighters they have signed.  The picked up Brett Rogers after he had some issues with domestic violence, and they're currently advertising the fact that they have, just released from prison, War Machine.  However, it could be argued that those guys are semi-known fighters, and Bellator's just trying to carve out their share of the market.  Besides, people with assault charges have fought for the UFC in the past.

Unfortunately for Bellator, one of their more recent signees is Dan McGuane, who was charged with manslaughter after he and his brother, both around 6'4" and 200 pounds, beat to death a guy that was 5'8" and 155 pounds.  Fortunately, after word about McGuane got out, and a Ban Dan McGuane website popped up, Bellator announced they were removing Dan from the card.  I'm glad that he's not getting paid to fight, but I he didn't get signed in the first place.

Rousey in the UFC, Strikeforce Gone

Welp, Strikeforce had a semi-decent run, but by the end of January, 2013, it will be no more (Though some of the title fights made negative sense).  UFC is going to absorb most of Strikeforce's talent, and that includes current Women's Bantamweight champion, "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey.  This is a big deal since Dana White has said in the past he'd never have female fighters in the UFC.  Of course, Rousey's manager says there's been no change and Ronda is still a Strikeforce employee, so who knows what the heck's going on.  Guess we'll just have to wait until January.

Five, Five Dollar, Five Dollar Foot-Long Gets You 25 to Life

Badr Hari is a very good K-1 kickboxer.  He's also a bit of a volatile, violence monster outside of the ring.  After spending months in prison in Holland, Hari was recently released, despite the fact that he's fled the country in the past on other criminal charges.  He was ordered not to interact with any of the witnesses in the case and to avoid the catering business.  Most people assumed this meant he needed to avoid nightclubs and such (Where his most recent incident occurred), but it's apparently a bit more far reaching than that.  Hari was re-arrested for violating his probation by eating a sandwich at a bar.

Cung Le's Wrap Hurts My Heart

Cung Le now has a deli wrap that sounds horrifying.  The only question is will it cause more damage than what he did to Rich Franklin in Macau?

Yeah, I am frightened by this thing.

Guess that's about it for dumb stuff in MMA (Or dumb MMA stuff) this week.  UFC 154 is on Saturday, so expect an event primer for that soon.  Plus maybe one of these days I'll talk about a fight that actually ends with a leg kick TKO.  Doubtful, but you never know!

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that's less ridiculous than being an "American-Whu-Hit-U" fighter.

UFC 154 is on Saturday, and thankfully it starts at night time in the Western hemisphere (Best hemisphere).  Here are the fights and what I think about them!

    Preliminary Card - Facebook

Featherweight - Steven "Super" Siler vs. Darren "The Damage" Elkins
    • Siler's Style - Grappling
    • Other Siler Nickname - Steven "The Miller Killer" Siler
    • Elkins's Style - Wrestling
    • Prediction - Elkins is going to do so many wrestles to Siler and win by decision
    • Thoughts - After checking out Siler's record, I'm convinced something called "Olly Bradstreet" is some kind of nightmare monster for him.

Bantamweight - Ivan "The Pride of El Salvador" Menjivar vs. Azamat "Tough Guy" Gashimov
    • Menjivar's Style - Striking, BJJ
    • Gashimov's Style - Wrestling
    • Prediction - Menjivar is going to submit the heck outta Gashimov
    • Thoughts - I don't know anything about Gashimov, but Menjivar is really cool, so he should win everything.

Welterweight - Matt "Deep Waters" Riddle vs. John "The One" Maguire
    • Riddle's Style - Wrestling, BJJ
    • Maguire's Style - Submissions, Gypsy Jiu-Jitsu
    • Prediction - I think Maguire is going to submit Riddle.
    • Thoughts - I'm slowly starting to like Riddle as a fighter (And he always seemed like a decent enough person, but I'm liking that more, too), but being a "Gypsy Jiu-Jitsu" practicioner is too rad to pass up.  Also, I wonder if Riddle will test positive for weed for this fight!

Featherweight - Antonio "Pato" Carvahlo vs. Rodrigo Damm
    • Carvahlo's Style - Striking, BJJ
    • Damm's Style - Wrestling, BJJ
    • Prediction - Carvahlo wins with a TKO
    • Thoughts - Carvahlo has never lost in Canada, so, scientifically, he will win this fight.  Damm's sister, Carina also fights and has the weird nickname of "Beauty But the Beast".
Check out more predictions and whatnot after the jump!

    Preliminary Card - FX

Lightweight - Sam "Hands of Stone" Stout vs. John "The Bull" Makdessi
    • Stout's Style - Kickboxing
    • Makdessi's Style - Striking
    • Prediction - Stout wins an exciting decision of a fight.
    • Thoughts - Makdessi isn't bad, but he's struggled against good competition, and I think Stout's pretty good competition for him.  That being said, his spinning backfist KO a couple fights back was astounding and crazy loud.

Lightweight - Mark Bocek vs. Rafael Dos Anjos
    • Bocek's Style - BJJ
    • Unofficial Boceck Nickname - "Boceck Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself"
    • Dos Anjos's Style - BJJ
    • Unofficial Dos Anjos Nickname - Rafael "Two Butts" Dos Anjos
    • Prediction - Dos Anjos by decision
    • Thoughts - Bocek's good, but I think Dos Anjos is a better grappler.  Not enough to submit him, but good enough to win.

Light Heavyweight - Cyrille "The Snake" Diabate vs. Chad "The Grave Digger" Griggs
    • Diabate's Style - Muay Thai
    • Griggs's Style - Punches, Mutton chops, digging graves
    • Prediction - Griggs is going to punch Diabate's face into Ouch-Town for a KO.
    • Thoughts - Please note that this prediction is entirely dependent upon Griggs having thick and lush chops.  If they are sparse or shorn, he will lose, and lose badly.

Middleweight - Patrick "The Predator" Cote vs. Alessio "Legionarius" Sakara
    • Cote's Style - Striking
    • Sakara's Style - Striking
    • Prediction - Cote by KO
    • Thoughts - Sakara is too chinny to survive against Cote, and I doubt he gets another eyeball punch like he did to James Irvin.

    Main Card - PPV

Featherweight - Mark "The Machine" Hominick vs. Pablo "The Scarecrow" Garza
    • Hominick's Style - Kickboxing
    • Garza's Style - Muay Thai, BJJ
    • Prediction - Garza by submission.
    • Thoughts - Last time Hominick was in Canada, he got blitzed by Chan Sung "The Korean Zombie" Jung, and before that, Jose Aldo depositied an egg inside his forehead.  Garza has done two really cool things in the UFC, a flying triangle, and in the first ever Featherweight UFC fight, knocked out Fredson Paixao with a flying knee that left him down for like two minutes straight.

Middleweight - Nick "The Promise" Ring vs. Constantinos "Costa" Philippou
    • Ring's Style - Kickboxing, BJJ
    • Philippou's Style - Boxing
    • Prediction - Ring wins a decision.
    • Thoughts - I think Ring takes it in large part because the fight is in Canada.  No word on if he's stopped any muggers leading up to this fight.

Middleweight - Francis "Limitless" Carmont vs. "Filthy" Tom Lawlor

Welterweight - Martin "The Hitman" Kampmann vs. Johny "Bigg Rigg" Hendricks
    • Kampmann's Style - Grappling, kickboxing
    • Hendricks's Style - Wrestling, punching, BEARD
    • Prediction -This is the second-closest fight to pick, in my opinion (Main is tops), and I think the Kamping Mann wins with a submission.
    • Thoughts - This fight is gonna be fun, I hope!  Really don't know about this prediction, on one hand, I should never doubt the Kamping Mann.  On the other, I fear the BEARD.

    Main Event - PPV

Welterweight Title -  Georges "Rush" St. Pierre (Champion) vs Carlos "The Natural Born Killer" Condit (Interim Champion)
    • St. Pierre's Style - Wrestling, everything
    • St. Pierre's More Common Nickname - GSP
    • Condit's Style -Striking, BJJ
    • Prediction -Condit by KO
    • Thoughts -Condit never loses title matches.  He will find a way to do punches to Georges and win.  Then again, this is Georges St. Pierre, he can make good fighters look ridiculous at times.  Also, maybe it's just me, but Condit reminds me of a more ass kicking Adam Scott.  Anyone else?
