Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s more erratic than Dominick Cruz.

Fights - There was a UFC PPV, Bellator, SFL (BOOM, POW, PUNCH, KICK, WOW!) and a random assortment of two people flailing their limbs at each other until one cannot take it any more (Wait, I already said Super Fight League).

TPF 15 - Tachi Palace Fights is a regional MMA organization that works as a half-decent feeder league to the UFC.

Clark vs Miranda

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Dominick Clark knocked out Andy Miranda in just under two minutes in the first round.

Perez vs De Soto

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Alex Perez took just two seconds longer than Clark to knockout Carlos De Soto with punches.

Check out many much more fights after the jump!

Avila vs Crisp

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Anthony Avila barely needed more than sixty seconds to get a submission victory over Darren Crisp, getting the tap out with a guillotine choke.

DeAnda vs Ruiz

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Angel DeAnda won the vacant Light Heavyweight title in round three with a knockout of Anthony Ruiz.

SFL 9 - I don't know if it is hilarious or getting creepy that since SFL went to weekly shows with predominantly Indian talent, every card has one decision and six stoppages.  Whatever, SFL is cool, watch it for free, live on Fridays at like 11:30 AM ET (It will be over by like 12:45) or just whenever on youtube.

Kumar vs Mahanta

Santosh Kumar started the night off quickly, submitting Sachin Mahanta in 3:41 with a guillotine choke.

Prasad vs Eidehlouei

Shyam Prasad fought on the SFL 4 card, dispatching Guarav Singh with a rear naked choke in less than a minute into the second round.  This time, Shyam worked a lot quicker, tapping out Rouhollah Eidehlouei with a guillotine choke at 1:08 in round one.

Monika vs Kaur

In the obligatory decision fight, Monika and Gurleen Kaur went all three rounds.

Bankura vs Singh

Satendar Bankura had something else on his schedule apparently, as he knocked out Rajbir Singh in just 21 seconds into round one.

Choudhury vs Khan

Bhabajeet Choudhury also fought on SFL 4, dispatching Charanjeet Singh in round two with a spinning back kick.  This time, Jamshed Khan wasn't as luck, getting taken out with knees late in round one.

Khan vs Kumar

At SFL 4, Ifran Khan was the designated decisioner, needing all three rounds and the judges to defeat Kaushik Sen.  This time, Khan worked a lot quicker, submitting Kapil Kumar (Who won at SFL 6) with a guillotine choke in round two.

Wahman vs Muhammed

Amr Wahman actually lost at SFL 4, but now he's back and knocking out Baz Muhammed right at the end of round one.

Bellator 81 - This edition of the Bellator Fighting Championships saw the two finalists for the Season Seven Lightweight Tournament get decided, plus a bunch of other neat stuff happened.

Calendrelli vs Brown

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Andrew Calendrelli finished off Eric Brown in the second round with an armbar.

Cramer vs Lamoureux

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Dan Cramer knocked out Joe Lamoureux with some punches just before the 3:30 mark in round one.

Mucitelli vs Uhde

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Mike Mucitelli made Matt Uhde tap in 26 seconds with an armbar.  That is like SFL-level fast!

Ward vs McCoy

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Brennan Ward finished off Sam McCoy with punches in under 3 minutes.

Filkins vs Billstein

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Perry Filkins went nuts at one point during the fight, so that was cool.  He also won a decision over Jonas Billstein.

Sandro vs Neace

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Marlon Sandro beat up Dustin Neace and finished him off with a submission.

Jansen vs Tirloni

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Dave Jansen keeps bees in his spare time, but his job is "fight man" and he proved to be the better one, taking a decision over Ricardo Tirloni.

Held vs Clementi

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Marcin Held tapped Rich Clementi (Who subsequently announced his retirement) with a toe hold because Held likes to hold toes.  And destroy legs.

UFC 154 - What?  The UFC Welterweight title was defended?  Georges St. Pierre actually fought?  WOW!

Menjivar vs Gashimov

Ivan Menjivar submitted Azamat Gashimov with an armbar in the first round because Menjivar is way cool.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Further proof of Menjivar's coolness, his victory celebration.

Riddle vs Maguire

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Matt Riddle might have been high for this fight, as he threw a crazy-ass kick en route to a decision victory over John Maguire.

Garza vs Hominick

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Pablo Garza is gangly and throws weird jump-spinning stuff. He also says he wants to drop from Featherweight to Bantamweight, which is basically insane and probably impossible.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Oh, and he beat Mark Hominick bloody and won a decision.

Hendricks vs Kampmann

Johny Hendricks punching power might actually overshadow his beard at this point. Dang!  Also, sorry for your loss, Martin Kamping Mann.

St. Pierre vs Condit

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Rad fight, totally awesome times.  I thought Condit would lose all his brain bloods and the fight would get stopped in round one, but he battled back to kick GSP in the head once and was close to finishing the fight.

Also, Georges looked rough after the fight.

Grab Bag- Once again, here's a random assortment of fights!

A Jeet Kune Don't!

I don't think this guy's problem is that his style is Jeet Kune Do.  I think it's more that he's just awful at fights.  So let's watch Gregy Styles Germanly suplex some guy in a t-shirt around!

MMA Karma is Swift

Adam Fyfe is a jerk because he fakes a glove touch with Alex Thorne and punches him.  Thorne drops and it looks like the end is pretty close.  Thorne manages to recover, gets back to his feet, and knocks out Fyfe, all in the span of 24 seconds.

Urgh, His Head

I honestly don't have any information on this.  But do you really need context or back story or whatever to watch a guy get planted directly on his head in a fight?

Rothenhausler vs Evans-Smith

This fight is from back in July, but I'm just hearing about it, so why not put it up almost four months later?  Ashlee Evans-Smith gets one-punch knocked out by Veronica Rothenhausler in an amateur bout.  Dang!

Koppu Kicks!

I have no info on either of these fights, but they feature knockout by Koppu kick, which is pretty much the most Z-league strike.

Enjoy!

Monson vs Emelianenko

Jeff "the Snowman" Monson is a giant anarchist that enjoys hugs.  Aleksander Emelianenko is the younger, more disheveled brother of Fedor Emelianenko (A one-time top-ranked Heavyweight).  Both men are riddled with tattoos and both probably got more tattoos after this fight was over.  Monson at least got them in victory after he submitted Emelianenko with a north-south choke, which is basically the Jeff Monson Special.

News -Not much to report on this week.

Clementi Retires

Rich "No Love" Clementi has decided to retire from MMA after his most recent loss to Marcin Held further exacerbated damage to his foot joints.  Apparently surgery to repair things would require around a 14 month layoff, and Clementi decided to hang up his gloves instead.

So, here's Rich Clementi and Jeff Curran in a tag team MMA match from ZST because Japanese MMA is weird and wonderful.

Next week's dumb MMA stuff column will probably be a little light since Bellator is taking this week off for "road to the championship".  I assume SFL will have their regular show, so I'll cover that and any Z-league stuff that goes on.  I might try and get some other articles up, too (But we all know that won't happen).

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s more delusional than Phil Baroni.

Fights - A lot of fights from around the globe this week.  India, Canada, South Korea!

SFL 10 -What's this?  Super Fight League didn't have a fight go to decision?  Did someone not get the message that at least one fight has to go to the judges?

Kumar vs Farhan

Jagdish Kumar sloppily punches and kicks his way to a first round TKO (by retirement) over Shaikh Mohammed Farhan.

Check out way more fights after the jump!

Khan vs Sekhar

Javed Ali Khan wins by TKO at the end of round two as Srikant Sekhar gives up on the stool.

Janjic vs Ruhil

Nikola Janjic taps out Vikas Singh Ruhil with a rear naked choke in round one.

Solomon vs Rajput

Jason Solomon knocked out Suresh Rajput with a knee in round one.  It's a fun fight, with Solomon goofing around and after he wins, he humps the hell out of the O-Zone cage.  I like this guy.

Petkar vs Jha

Abhijeet Petkar wins because Sanjay Jha doesn't want to continue after the first round.  I like SFL, but three "retirement"/"forfeiture" victories is pretty bad.

Tweet vs Kadian

Charmaine Tweet taps out Puja Kadian in under a minute with a guillotine choke.

Ambriz vs Karim

Jimmy Ambriz taps out Mohamed Abdel Karim with an arm triangle in round one.  Ambriz might get to a .500 record if he sticks around in SFL!

Score Fighting Series 7 -Oh, Canada!  Score Fighting Series 7 was pretty cool, with some good fights and fun, new stuff!

McDonell vs Green

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Rory McDonell tapped out Desmond Green with a cool gogoplata/armbar combination in the first round.  Neato torpedo, Rory!

Dickson vs Dewsbery

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Ryan Dickson forced Brandt Dewbery to submit to a rear naked choke in round two.  Maybe not as crazy and cool as McDonell's sub, but it got the job done, and that's all that matters.

Saggo vs Hadin

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Jason Saggo also submitted Iraj Hadin with a rear naked choke, also in the second round.  Spooky!

Ronson vs Healy

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Jesse Ronson beat the crap out of Ryan Healy en route to a unanimous decision, including this moment where he lands three head kicks in a row in about five seconds.  WOW!

Mein vs Petz

Jordan Mein is pretty dang good, as he beat up Forrest Petz and got a TKO victory.  However, the bigger issue is that referee Yves Lavinge was pretty dang bad, letting a lot of blows to the back of Petz's head go without a warning or a stop in the action or anything.  SHEESH BO-BEESH, YVES!

Mestre do Combate - Mestre do Combate is Rickson "Armbar" Gracie's new MMA organization that is built around finishing fights.  Rounds are allowed to extend past the time limit if a submission or knockout is close and a decision is rendered by Rickson, the referee, and fan vote.

Petter vs Maffort

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Robert Petter knocked out Pety Maffort after nearly 8 minutes in round one.

Viana vs Correra

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Oseias Viana tapped Luciano Correra with a rear naked choke in round one.

Silva vs Nunes

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Glauke Eugenio e Silva finished Jefferson Nunes with a kimura in under a minute.

Lima vs Baldow

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Udi Lima triangle choked Celso Baldow in round one.

Sapinho vs Lopes

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Armando Saphino beat Thiago Fernandes Lopes with a north-south choke (Jeff Monson Special!)

Camolesi vs Moura

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Fernando Camolesi heel hooked Kitner Moura in a little past a minute into round one.

Miranda vs Rodrigues

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Vitor Miranda arm triangled Elton Rodrigues.

Road FC 10 -Road FC had some pretty good punch mens in South Korea this past weekend!

Park vs Ryu

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Jeong Gyo Park submitted Kyung Hwan Ryu with a kimura.

Yuk vs Oowaki

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Jin Soo Yuk TKO'd Kaname Oowaki in the second round with punches.

Kume vs Yoon

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Takasuke Kume submitted Chul Yoon with a rear naked choke in round one.

Nam vs Colossa

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Yui Chul Nam took a split decision victory over Vuyisile Colossa, so here's a few highlights.

Monson vs Kang

Jeff Monson beat Kang Dong Gook with a decision with a lot of cage clinching.

Lee vs Oyama

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Eun Soo Lee knocked out Shungo Oyama in round one with some punching.

News - Not a lot to discuss, but there was one thing of note.

Book Club!

I have, on occasion, made a entry about a live discussion happening over at With Leather (The world's best comedy sports blog) because With Leather is way cool.  When word got out that Tank Abbott wrote a novel, I knew I had to buy it, and since With Leather is way cool, they offered to host my review of the book.  So go read my thoughts on the first parts of "Befor There Were Rules:  Bar Brawler" over at With Leather!  Yay!

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s dumber than letting Masakazu Imanari touch your foot.

Fights - A whole lot of fights to cover, and some of them were half-decent!

Hardrock MMA 51 - The only reason I know about this event is because noted psychopath Junie Browning was making his return to MMA here.  It looks like it was pretty neat!

Goodal vs Bell

Ian Goodal submitted Eric Bell in round three with a rear naked choke.  It was a pretty good fight with a neat finish, but I think I love Ian's entrance music the best.

For a lot more fights (Seriously, a LOT more), and some news about fights, follow after the break!

Fritz vs Rohleder

Adam "Fancy Pants" Fritz has combined the nickname of Lyle Beerbohm with the leggings of Shinya Aoki (Which is weird, since Aoki submitted Beerbohm) and finished off Garrett Rohleder with a rear naked choke.

Prather vs Gibson

Pete Prather engages in some furious punch times against Matt Gibson, knocking him out in about ten seconds.

Stevens vs Browning

Junie Browning is bad, loses by guillotine choke from Brian Stevens.  I found this fight funny because during his stint on The Ultimate Fighter, Junie complained about "boring wrestlers that lay on people" yet he spends most of this fight going for takedowns so he can lay upon Stevens.

SFL 11 - Super Fight League (Punch, kick, wow!) was back to their old format of "One decision, six stoppages" this past Friday.  Also, nearly everyone on the card has fought on at least one SFL card n the past.  Returning fighters becoming stars!

Khan vs Das

Irfan Khan TKO'd Subrata Das with punches early in the first round.

Irannejad vs Kvia

Farbod Irannejad submitted Ranjith Kvia with a rear naked choke at 2:19 of round one.

Grewal vs Ismael

Narender Grewal stopped Soro Ismael with punches at 2:53 in round one, earning a TKO victory.

Singh vs Rao

Virender Singh finished off Naveen Rao with punches in round one.

Singh vs Saber

Ritika Singh took Aya Saied Saber to the distance and won by unanimous decision.

Bhat vs Yadav

Sachin Bhat rear nakedly choked out Sandeep Yadav in round two (What, a second fight went past round one?)

Bellator 82 - Bellator's Season Seven continues to wind down, and we finally crowned a tournament champion.

Davinney vs Van Buren

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Terry Davinney punched the heck out of Matt Van Buren, getting a knockout in just fifteen seconds.  That's some mighty fine punching!

Santana vs Seguin

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Giva "the Arm Collector" Santana decided to diversify his portfolio and tapped out Brandon Seguin with a kneebar.  Just when you think you know the counters, Giva changes the submissions!

Navarro vs Bain

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Mario Navarro submitted Anthony Bain in round two with a triangle choke.

Schulz vs Garcia

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

John Schulz got a TKO victory over Hector Garcia mid-way through the third and final round.  Good punching, John!

Sarnavaskiy vs Hervey

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Alexander Sarnavaskiy dominated Tony Hervey and his weird hair for all three rounds and won a decision victory.

Marshall vs Hose

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Doug Marshall UNLEASHED THE RHINO and knocked the hell out of Kala Hose in like twenty seconds.

Rickels vs Fischer

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

David "Caveman" Rickels took a decision victory over Jason Fischer in a pretty fun fight.  Rickels is weird, but he does have good fights.

Koreshkov vs Good

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Andrey Koreshkov won a decision over Lyman Good to be crowned the Season Seven Welterweight tournament winner.

KSW 21 - KSW (Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki) is a Polish MMA organization that was the home to former World's Strongest Man and overall muscley dude, Mariusz Pudzianowski's MMA debut.  They've got a new attraction (One that is actually good), in Mamed Khalidov, and KSW 21 featured him in the main event.

Kowalkiewicz vs Bonkowska

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Karolina Kowalkiewicz took Paulina Bonkowska to a decision and won in unanimous fashion.

Horwich vs Martin

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Matt Horwich is a weird, crazy person.  He punched Terry Martin a punch and got a TKO victory.

Jewtuszko vs Sowinski

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Maciej Jewtuszko got revenge on Artur Sowinski and submitted him with a Brabo choke (Sowinski gave Jewtuszko his most recent loss at KSW 17 last year)

Materla vs Wallace

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Michal Materla knocked out Rodney Wallace in just 21 seconds.

Khalidov vs Grove

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Mamed Khalidov tapped out The Ultimate Fighter season 3 winner Kendall Grove with an Achilles' lock in round two.

Grab Bag -As usual, a random collection of fights from everywhere.

Nunes vs Thompson

Max Nunes punched Kevin Thompson and got a TKO victory at BAMMA 11

Casey vs Cummins

Cortney Casey finishes off Rachel Cummins with a flying armbar, which is a way-cool submission.  Flying armbar, whoo-hoo!

News - Some interesting stuff happened!  Read about it or don't!

Big Nog's Weird Commercial

Big Nog, you're doing EVERYTHING wrong, and I love you for it!  I seriously don't know what's going on in this Brazilian Honda commercial, but it doesn't matter.  NOG!

UFC Super Heroes

Where was BENSON HENDERSON in all this?  Also, Tito Ortiz is dumb and names super heroes about as well as he names his favorite "bands".

Jack Hermansson, Killer of Interviewers

I normally wouldn't put up a video of some random propect talking about his Bellator debut, but look at him launch poor Miss skOOm with that knee!  Jack (Yack?) joins Alistair Overeem in the list of European MMA guys that have destroyed an overmatched person holding pads for them.

Weird Lady Shenanigans!

Women's MMA has had two strange things go down within a few days of each other.

This weekend in Pancrase, there was a Bantamweight Queen fight between Rin Nakai and Danielle West.  West initially weighed in about 2 pounds over, and this would normally result in a non-title fight and West getting docked 25% of her fight purse in the US.  In Japan, way crazier stuff happensAccording to a few reports, West was told she wouldn't be allowed to use knees to the head or any chokes, while Nakai had a full arsenal to work withPancrase officials are saying they were fair to West, and they could have just called off the fight entirely.

Meanwhile, in the US, Michele Gutierrez pulled out of her upcoming Bellator fight with Felice Herrig, claiming a broken hand.  Now there are a few hints and claims that Gutierrez's hand is fine, she just wasn't going to be able to make weight.  PLOTS ARE THICKENING!

Tank Abbott Book Club Part Two!

Hey folks, read my review/summary of chapters two through four of Tank Abbott's novel over at With Leather (The world's best comedy sports blog) right here!

That's about it for this week.  UFC on Fox 5 is this Saturday, so expect an Event Primer for that (And a post asking you to join me for another With Leather live discussion, probably).  I will give you some homework, though.  The UFC has provided 8 (!) free (!!) fights, four from Nate Diaz, four from Benson Henderson to act as "road to the title" fights for both men.  Watch all of these fights!

Cage Justice - Joe Son

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s more confusing than rubber guard terminology.

MMA has its fair share of dirtballs, scumbags, dirtbags, scumballs, shitheads, assholes, and just plain fucking jerks.  Sometimes there is criminal evidence of the wrongdoing, while sometimes it's just awful stuff done in a fight.  Cage Justice is about pointing out the instances of horrible behavior, and either detailing the legal repercussions meted out, or the ass kickings received in fights, sometimes both!

Who we talking about here?

Joe Son is currently the king of reprehensible fuck heads in the world of MMA.  If he looks slightly familiar, that might be because he played Random Task in the first Austin Powers movie, throwing a shoe at Powers.

Okay, so what did he do?

He was charged with multiple sexual offenses for raping a woman repeatedly at gunpoint (And also with the gun), but it was determined the statute of limitations was up on those charges, so instead, he was convicted of torture.

While in prison, his cellmate was murdered, and he's the prime suspect.

Holy shit, what are his punishments?

Legally, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.  However, this is Cage Justice, so let's focus on the visceral aspect of retribution.

Now, since he's been in prison for so long, he was never beaten to a pulp when anyone knew what he did.  However, Keith Hackney (Greatest American hero?) provided some amount of retribution if you don't think about time in a linear fashion (AKA you are Steven Seagal).  In an early UFC (Back when the only rule is THERE ARE NO RULES, JUST BLEEEED!), Hackney took Son to the mat and proceeded to wail on Son's balls with the fury of everyone that just read those Joe Son articles.  It is nowhere near enough, but it's the best we'll get.  Just keep watching that video any time you get angry.

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that’s dirtier than Matt Lindland.

Fights - A whole lot of action when down this weekend, so let's get right into the punches!

SFL 12 - Super Fight League brought the awesome with a bunch of sloppy fighting that amused me to no end.

Babu vs Singh

Sharath Babu finished off Varinder Singh in just under four minutes by way of technical knock out due to punches.

For way more fights, check out the rest of This Week in Dumb MMA Stuff after the jump!

Muneer vs Pal

Abdul Muneer submitted Amit Pal with a rear naked choke before the three minute mark.

Sharma vs Singh

Uchit Sharma beat Yashvir Singh with a guillotine choke late in the first round.

Khan vs Tokas

Arif Khan rear nakedly choked out Mohit Tokas in under two minutes.

Balhara vs Singh

Ravindra Balhara and Pawan Maan Singh fought into the third round when Singh cut Balhara above the eyebrow.  The referee and ringside doctor determined the cut was too bad for Balhara to continue (And they were right, it was totally nasty jazz), but according to India's rules, stoppages due to cuts past the second round result in a judge's decision, and Balhara won unanimously.

Berezikova vs Benitez

Julia Berezikova made Karla Benitez tap to an arm bar in round two.

Maheo vs Ashour

In the main event, Kario Isaac Maheo defeated Mahmoud Ashour with a rear naked choke in round three.

Bellator 83 - Bellator was supposed to crown another tournament champion, but Shabhulat Shamhalaev got food poisoning, so his fight with Rad Martinez was pushed to next week.  There was still some fun stuff, though!

Eye vs Frausto-Gurgel

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Jessica Eye and Zoila Frausto-Gurgel don't like each other at all.

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

After this fight, I'm pretty sure Zoila's hate for Jessica is at an all-time high because Jessica choked out Zoila with a standing arm triangle.

Leone vs Makovsky

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Anthony Leone took former Bellator Bantamweight champ Zach "Fun Size" Makovsky the distance and won a decision.

Horcher vs Lugori

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Darrel Horcher hits people very hard, as evidenced in his last entry on This Week in Dumb MMA Stuff.  Chris Lugori managed to recover numerous times, though, and lasted all fifteen minutes, losing unanimously.

XFC 21 - The only reason I knew about this event was because Nick Newell was fighting.

Card vs Richardson

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Jarrod Card technically submitted Keith Richardson with a guillotine choke very early in round two.

Rainey vs Wallace

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Ricky Rainey beat up Donald Wallace and got a TKO victory in under two minutes.

Finch vs West

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Marcus Finch knocked out Dustin West with a headbutt, which I'm sure will get reviewed at some point.

Thomas vs Hill

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Ryan Thomas submitted Corey Hill with an armbar, and luckily, none of Hill's limbs snapped horribly this time!

Newell vs  Reynolds

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Nick Newell submitted Eric Reynolds with a rear naked choke to win the XFC Lightweight title.  Congratulations, Nick!

UFC on Fox 5 - This might have been the best card of the year.  Like, wow, it was good.

Trujillo vs LeVesseur

Jeez oh peas, Abel Trujillo beat the heck out of Marcus LeVesseur on the way to a TKO victory.

Cruickshank vs Martinez

This fight was a beating administered by Daron Cruickshank to Henry Martinez.  It started with a bunch of kicks to the body.

It ended with Cruickshank knocking Martinez out with a walk-off headkick KO.

Edwards vs Stephens

Continuing the night of cool, short fights, Yves Edwards dropped Jeremy Stephens with a counter punch and finished him off with a vicious elbow.  Thugjitsu is unstoppable.

Brown vs Swick

Matt Brown knocked out Mike Swick with a nice flurry of punches.

MacDonald vs Penn

Rory MacDonald dominated BJ Penn to a decision victory.

It was so easy for Rory that he broke out a mega-nerdy Ali Shuffle.

Henderson vs Diaz

Benson Henderson was very dominant in his fight against Nate Diaz, thanks in part to leg kicks (No TKO, sadly, as it went to the judges).

Benson also muscled Diaz around the Octagon, slamming him.

Being that he's a Diaz, Nate dropped his hands, and Benson made him pay for it.

But despite the one-sided beating, Nate never gave up, as shown here during a leglock scramble.

Grab Bag - Random fights ahead!

Palelei vs McCorkle

Soa "the Hulk" Palelei beat up Sean McCorkle and got a TKO victory.  Back to being unfunny online, McCorkle!

Scoggins vs Hebeisen

Justin Scoggins knocked out Jason Hebeisen with a superkick in their fight.  That's neato torpedo!

Rogers vs Bennett

Ronnie "Bam Bam" Rogers took on Charles "Krazy Horse"/"Kid Khaos" Bennett, and nearly got slammed to bits, but still managed to survive and submit Bennett with a triangle choke.

News - Eh, nothing noteworthy happened (In my dumb opinion, at least), including the Benson Henderson Toothpick Controversy in that.

Dana White's Vlog

I try to watch Dana White's fight week video blog's, but it's not often that there's worthwhile to focus on.  Now that Chael Sonnen is coaching the new season of The Ultimate Fighter, that's going to change!  You may not like him as a fighter, or a person, but he can tell a pretty interesting story!

"Yusin Okami, thank you!  Yushin Okami, thank you!"

Tank Abbott Book Club!

I did continue my review/recap of Tank Abbott's dumb novel!  Last time, I linked to part 2, so here are parts 3, 4, and 5 for your reading pleasure!  Warning - Tank's protagonist, Walter Foxx, is pretty racist!

Welp, that's about it.  Both the Carwin/Nelson and Pearson/Sotiropoulos seasons of The Ultimate Fighter will be having finales this weekend, so I might try to smash together some kind of mega-primer.

Fights - A whole lot of fights went down, so let's not waste any time and get right into the action.

SFL 13 - Super Fight League crowned a bunch of champions on Friday as it was their last show of the year.

Khan vs Eidehlouei

Jamshed Khan defeated Rouhollah Eidehlouei due to retirement at the end of round two.

Check out a ton more fights, plus pure craziness after the jump!

Kolekar vs Monika

Manjit Kolekar finished off Monika Monika with a rear naked choke in round one.

de Reuck vs Badawy

Warren de Reuck made Mohamed Hassan Badawy tap out with a triangle choke late in the first round.

Meena vs Yadav

Rajinder Singh Meena finished Sandeep Yadav with a guillotine choke in round four.

Khandare vs Grewal

Bharat Khandare beat Narender Grewal with a guillotine choke in round one.

Kumar vs Chuhan

Anup Kumar choked out Manoj Chuhan with a rear naked choke just after the two minute mark of round two.

Prasad vs Choudhury

Shyam Prasad defeated my favorite SFL fighter, Bhabajeet Choudhury with a rear naked choke in round two.  Dang it!

Legacy Fighting Championships 16 - LFC was in Dallas this weekend, and there were a lot of fun finishes.

Caldwell vs Kempf

Darrion Caldwell beat Quaint Kempf with punches in the opening minute.  I still can't decide if "Quaint Kempf" is the best name or dumbest name.

Mai vs Russ

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Klayton Mai made Alex Russ tap to a guillotine choke deep into round one.

Krantz vs Byrd

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Derrick Krantz rear nakedly choked out Charles Byrd in round one.

Benoit vs Sandoval

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Ryan Benoit technically knocked out Joseph Sandoval just past the one minute mark in round one.

Skelly vs Trujillo

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Chas Skelly (This is another candidate for best/dumbest name) punched out Reynaldo Trujillo in round three to get a TKO win.

Hobar vs Peterson

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Matt Hobar took a majority decision over Steven Peterson in a back and forth fight.

Campuzano vs Flick

Will Campuzano finished Jimmy Flick with knees and punches very early in round one.

Bellator 84 - Bellator wrapped up most of the Season Seven Tournaments, and crowned a new Heavyweight champion.

Gomez vs Talamantes

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Anthony Gomez choked out Anton Talamantes in round one.

Uflacker vs Wright

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Christian Uflacker got kicked in the face on the way to putting a knee on the ground in the third round.  The referee stopped the fight, and since Uflacker couldn't continue, the fight went to the judges, and Uflacker won the decision.  I personally feel that since Uflacker wasn't actually a downed opponent, it should have been a KO victory for Cliff Wright, but I'm just some random bloggist.

Taylor vs Vedepo

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

No Vedepo Chokes tonight, as Louis Taylor punched the heck out of Joe Vedepo and get a knockout victory.

Herrig vs Vidonic

Gif by https://twitter.com/ZProphet_MMA

Felice Herrig was pretty dominant during her fight with Patricia Vidonic, and won a unanimous decision.

TUF: The Smashes Finale - The big guys got started on Friday night, as the UK vs Australia installment of The Ultimate Fighter finished up.

Lombard vs Palhares

Hector Lombard punched the heck out of Rousimar Palhares and got a KO victory.

From www.MiddleEasy.com

Also, in wonderful iron, Palhares ended up breaking his foot during the fight.  So now we know that there's some kind of leg-hating demon that lives within Rousimar, and someone's foot or leg has to end up injured when he fights.

Pearson vs Sotiropoulos

Ross Pearson punched George Sotiropoulos a bunch, and won with a third round KO.

TUF 16: Carwin vs Nelson Finale - The main version of TUF ended on Saturday with probably one of the best fight cards of the year (FREE MMA IS BEST MMA).

Viana vs Duran

Hugo Viana used his Wolverine powers to punch Reuben Duran really dang hard in the face and got a knockout towards the end of the first round.

Khabilov vs Pichel

Holy bananas, this Rustam "Tiger" Khabilov!  I thought that Sambo guys were the ones that took ridiculous German suplexes in MMA, not the ones delivering them!

Here's another look at the suplex of doom.  JEEZ OH PEAS!

Of course, it turns out that Khabilov has a bit of a history of dropping guys on their heads to their personal doom.

Bedford vs Vinicius

Johnny Bedford beat the heck out of Marcos Vinicius and stopped him in the second round with a flurry of blows.

Pyle vs Head

Mike Pyle is 37 years old, sports a fabulous mullet, and told Joe Rogan that when he got rocked earlier in the round, he started thinking about SpongeBob Squarepants.  Oh, also, he smashed his knee into James Head's face and then punched him a bunch afterwards.

Poirier vs Brookins

This was a way fun fight!  Both guys hurt each other standing a couple of times, Brookins dropped for a takedown, and Poirier latched onto his favorite submission, the D'Arce (Or Brabo) choke.

Barry vs Del Rosario

Yay Pat Barry!  This was another fun scrap, and I've got to say, as a Pat Barry fan, I was pretty nervous at times in the first round when Del Rosario was hunting for submissions.  Pat defended, and the fight went to the second round.

Then Pat finished things off with a nice assortment of punches.

And after that, he gave the best post-fight interview/speech.

Nelson vs Mitrione

Once again, fun stuff in this fight.  Nelson used his natural dwarven power to get Mitrione wobbly, then finished him off with some more vicious shots.

Grab Bag - A collection of random fights for everyone's entertainment!

Flying Reverse Triangle!

Here we have Wolfgang Janssen pulling off probably the only ever flying reverse triangle against Aaron Armstrong at Havoc FC.  Dang!

Garrett Holeve is a 23-year-old that trains at American Top Team in Florida.  He's had a two exhibition fights, but there has been a lot of difficulty in getting him opponents.  The roadblock stems from the fact that Garrett has Downs syndrome and a lot of other fighters are apprehensive about getting in a cage and hurting him severely.

Anderson Silva's Duracell Commercial

Here's 3 minutes of Anderson Silva playing with action figures for Duracell, because he can do whatever the hell he wants.  Best part is all of the figures being Anderson with different hair.

Roy Nelson's Epic Deli Sandwich

The crazy guys at Epic Deli came up with a new MMA-inspired creation, the Roy Nelson.

It seems horrifying, but that Matt Riddle look-alike seems to enjoy it!

Hip Show

The Hip Show is a giant cauldron of Russian insanity that basically combines the set from American Gladiators and tag team MMA, it just lacks tennis ball cannons (I think that is only for title fights).

The best part is after one guy from a team gets eliminated, his lone partner flees for his life as it becomes a handicap match.  Never change, Russia.

Fighter Retrospective - Bas Rutten

$

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that will always let you bang, bro.

This time on Fighter Retrospectives, I’ll be taking a look at a Dutch maniac, BasElGuapo”Rutten.

Who is this guy?

Bas Rutten is a guy from Holland that was very good at killing people’s faces.  He began his martial arts career in Tae Kwon Do and Kyokushin karate, then later transitioned into Muay Thai kickboxing (I think 80% of all Dutch people are skilled in Muay Thai), before participating in mixed martial arts.

He started in Pancrase, a Japanese organization that had a fair amount of professional wrestling influences (Combatants were allowed rope breaks for submissions during a match, for instance, and closed fist punches to the face were illegal.  The rope breaks were in finite supply, though, and once you used them up, the next rope grab would end the fight.).  Bas was initially very good at knocking out people with his excellent striking background, but would quickly become lost when a fight went to the ground.  One of the top stars of Pancrase, Masakatsu Funaki took on Bas and several other fighters to train submission skills simply to give himself more of a challenge (Rest assured, I’ll be writing about Funaki in the future).  Rutten learned the ground game very well and started submitting people with numerous different holds.

Were any of his fights any good?

Boy howdy, were they!  Bas had some very impressive and fun fights with such peoples as Jason DeLucia, Frank and Ken Shamrock (Individually, of course, this was Pancrase, not ZST), and Masakatsu Funaki.

Rutten versus Frank Shamrock III - The Fighting Clown, Frank Shamrock

Bas struggled against the Shamrock family, going 2-3 overall with the grappling brothers.  This fight is to unify Bas's King of Pancrase title with Frank's interim KoP title.  Bas is on commentary because he's awesome.  There's a good mix of grappling, striking, and conversation to start things off.  Oh, they also spill out of the ring during a takedown attempt by Frank.  Crazy times in Pancrase!

It's not really until the latter stages of the fight that Frank starts goofing around.  He throws a turtled-up backhand, and during a leg lock attempt, just pulls ridiculous faces as Bas tries to punch his way out.  Frank ends up with a cut over his eyebrow, and that's the official reason for the end of the fight, but Bas says, and I'm inclined to agree, that Shamrock just looked like he was done, cut or no cut.

Check out more about Bas after the (splits) jump!

Rutten versus Jason DeLucia III – Kill the Lying Liver

Jason DeLucia was a thrift store Frank Shamrock, at least in looks.  He was a decent enough fighter, but since this isn’t a Fighter Retrospective on him, I’ll save his back story for another time (Pfft, like I’m gonna write about that dorkus malorkus!).  This fight also has fun commentary from Bas Rutten, and it’s a lot of him calling out Jason for lying about where Bas’s strikes were landing.  DeLucia claims punches hit his face, while Bas contends they were on the “high chest” (Hey, he’s Dutch, cut him some slacks.  That is because the Dutch enjoy trousers.  Never mind.), and DeLucia says a kick is to the groin, but Rutten says it was to the body.  Some of the strikes look to land where Bas says, and a few could be where DeLucia claims, but I’m siding with Bas because he seems scarier.  Bas finally gets fed up with the shenanigans and decides to beat the shit out of DeLucia’s body, specifically his “leever”, which is basically the Bas Rutten Special.  Rutten even says the knockout blow “broke” Jason’s liver, which is impressive and disturbing.

Rutten versus Masakatsu Funaki II – I Shall Beat Upon You Until One of Us is Dead

This might be the best Pancrase match ever (Granted, I haven’t seen a whole lot of Pancrase matches, but even so, this one is special).  It’s a rematch between big name guys, and also, a student versus teacher match, as, like I said, Funaki took in Rutten to teach him catch wrestling just so Funaki wouldn’t get bored submitting guys so easily.  Rutten, again on commentary, says his thoughts were to drag the fight out, see if Funaki gasses at the 15 minute mark, so he fights pretty conservatively, looking for counters and playing defense.   The fight hits the mat a few times, and Bas escapes several submission attempts, including a horrible-looking leg lock.  With Funaki in Bas’s close guard, Rutten attempts to push Funaki off, create space, and get back to his feet.  It pretty much works, but Funaki throws a kick as Rutten is still getting to his feet.  It looks to hit all body, but Bas is pissed (I’m pretty sure head kicks to a downed opponent were illegal in Pancrase, but I’m not as well versed in its early ruleset).

Now the fight transitions from “Bas waiting things out” to “BAS MUST KILL”.  Rutten smashes and obliterates Funaki’s nose with palm strikes and knees, but Funaki keeps getting back up.  Finally, after I think four hundred knockdowns, Funaki has lost too many points, so the fight is over.  Bas gets his hand raised briefly, then falls down, exhausted.  It's awesome.

Rutten vs Villareal - The Return

After some serious knee injuries, Bas's career was thought to be over around 1999.  However, in 2006, Bas made one final go of things and faced off with shame-shirt wearing Ruben "Warpath" Villareal.  In just over 3 minutes, Bas defeated Ruben with a LEG KICK TKO!  HELL YEAH!  Also, check it out, Kevin James cornered Bas!

Post-Fight Career?

Rutten has kept fairly busy after his fight career got put on hold due to injuries (Though he did return several years later for one last fight).  He’s trained a fair number of fighters, including Duane “Bang” Ludwig, Yves Edwards, Kimbo Slice, and a vast number of drunken lunatics.

What?

Rutten has a video or DVD or something that details the methods to survive a bar fight or twelve (dozen).  He should have a good idea about this, considering he claims to have been involved in a crazy, raucous brawl in Sweden in the 90s.  Anyway, Rutten’s instructional is less about diffusing situations and more about causing maximum harm, possibly to get away, but sometimes just so you can then inflict more damage (And in some cases, humiliation) on your opponent/victim.  Techniques such as breaking a man’s leg for saying a thing about your wife, smashing a man’s face into the bar for trying to claim your seat as his own (The Anti-Norm Rule), choking a man unconscious for speaking to you with a hand upon your shoulder, and slitting a person’s throat while you pretend to want to back off and avoid a confrontation are taught in the Bas Rutten System.  I’m pretty sure this video was sponsored by a defense attorney.

Bas has also done some acting, as he’s friends with a rotund buffoon who is notable in the MMA community (No, not Roy Nelson), Kevin James.  Rutten has been on The King of Queens, leant his voice for a part in Paul Blart – Animal Cop (I’m sorry, the correct title is Zookeeper), and co-stars as James’s trainer in Paul Blart – Mixed Martial Farts (Again, sorry, it is Here Comes the Boom).  He’s also done some non-Kevin James stuff, like starred in The Kingdom of Ultimate Power, and while, not an acting job, has a halfway decent Tony “Scarface” Montana impression.  He also hosted a show called Punk Payback, which showcased lowlifes getting their comeuppance on security footage, and also had Bas explaining more effective techniques for murdering the guy trying to shoplift a candy bar.  Apparently he was also involved in Grand Theft Auto IV.  And of course, El Guapo Likes to Dance.

Welp, it's time for everyone to grab their best black finery and get out the vigil candles, Strikeforce is on its deathbed.  The last ever event is set for tomorrow night, and after the initial promise of multiple title defenses, everyone ended up getting hurt so now the card is a shambles of random folk fighting established names.  Strikeforce isn't going down with a fight, it's curling up in a ditch, belly full of turpentine and anti-freeze, and hoping to go peacefully in its sleep.

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that's crazier than Charles Bennett.

Bellator Fighting Championships is all about tournaments.  It's how fighters earn title shots, which I really like.  The only thing required of a fighter is "win the tournament", no matter how impressively the wins come.

The following tournaments will be contested over the course of Bellator's eighth season (Possibly going past season 8 and into season 9)

Shamhalaev's Style -Muay Thai
Prediction - Martinez by decision
Thoughts - I would normally make jokes about a guy being named "Rad", but Rad's personal story is too heartbreaking to mock.  I hope Rad wins everything forever.

Light Heavyweight Title - Christian M'Pumbu vs Attila Vegh
M'Pumbu's Style -Savate
Vegh's Style -Wrestling, karate

Fantastic Finishes - Manhoef vs Hunt

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that's more hated than Chael Sonnen in Brazil.

This time on Fantastic Finishes, the finish is the entire fight. It's also a testament to how fucking scary Melvin Manhoef's punching power is (But I don't want to get ahead of myself).

Melvin "No Mercy" Manhoef vs Mark "Super Samoan" Hunt - K-1 Dynamite!! Power of Courage 2008 (December 31, 2008)

Who Are These Guys?

Melvin Manhoef is a Dutch/Surinamese kickboxer that wears a gladiator skirt and dog collar and dances to the ring because nobody is going to say anything about it. He currently has a 93% knockout rate.

Mark Hunt is a former K-1 World Grand Prix champion, which means he is a very good kickboxer. Also, Samoan stereotypes are true, because he once did this in a K-1 fight (Absorbing punches with the face is never a smart choice, unless you are Mark Hunt/Ray Sefo)

What's so Special about this Fight?

In his combined MMA and kickboxing career up to that point, Mark Hunt had only ever lost by submission, decision, a corner stoppage TKO, and a body shot TKO. The fact that a man outweighed by close to one hundred pounds managed to knock out Hunt while back pedaling is either bullshit or magic, I can't decide.

What Did We Learn?

  • Don't let Melvin Manhoef punch you
  • Even a stereotypical Samoan skull can be compromised
  • Don't let Mark Hunt punch you (I know it wasn't demonstrated in this fight, but it needs to be said)

Fighter Retrospective - Ikuhisa Minowa

Welcome to Leg Kick TKO, a MMA blog that's proof that if you have a dream, go ahead, anything is pasta bowl!

Today on Fighter Retrospectives I'm taking a look at one of the more pro-wrestley guys, Ikuhisa "the Punk" Minowa, more commonly known as MINOWAMAN. He's also currently active, so this is more of a Fighter Appreciation than a Retrospective, so leave appropriate vitriol in the comments for such an egregious goof up.

Who is this man, and what does he do?

A typical Wednesday for MINOWAMAN

Ikuhisa Minowa is a grapple-man made out of a mullet, a red speedo, dropkicks, and pure amazing (Yes, part of his training includes racing airplanes).  He's most well known for challenging guys with at least fifty pounds on him, but far inferior skills.  This is because Japanese MMA is both ridiculous and great, and cares not for fighter safety or fair fights.

Minowa got his start in 1996 and went 1-8-1 in his first ten fights, most of them taking place in Pancrase (Apparently I can only do a Retrospective if a Fighter competed amongst other Hybrid Wrestlers). Undaunted, Minowa continued fighting, and slowly started to even out his record, finally getting to .500 in 1999 with a 10-10-5 mark. He reached a true winning percentage in 2000, getting to 12-11-6, and he currently stands at 55-34-8, with over a quarter of his fights contested as Openweight bouts (Japanese MMA, you are truly, truly outrageous).

Minowa is impressive in the ways he wins, too, with 39 of his 55 wins coming by way of submission (71%), with 12 different types of submissions used to finish fights. He's mostly a leg specialist, with 18 wins coming below the waist (46% of all his submissions). He does have two wins by scarf hold armlock, which is about as many as the rest of the MMA world combined.

He Ever Win a Title?

Has he ever! MINOWAMAN only won the most glorious and prestigious tournament in the history of combat sports, the DREAM Openweight tournament, also known as SUPER HULK! It was a grueling contest, pitting three non-heavyweight mixed martial artists (plus Jose Canseco, because Japan) against four super heavyweight fighters.

Minowa's first match was against the enormous Bob Sapp (This was before Sapp decided to just collect a paycheck, and probably have at least a quarter of a fuck left to give). Minowa easily dispatched "The Beast" with a leglock in round one.

Next, came the even more gigantic Hong Man Choi, the only super heavyweight to win his opening round fight (Because it was against Jose Canseco. Again, JAPAN).

Minowa won again with another leglock, but it took him until round two to dispatch the biggest man in the tournament.

The tournament finals pitted Minowa against "The African Assasin" Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. Sokoudjou had won both of his fights with impressive ground and pound stoppages, and though he was bigger than MINOWAMAN (The smallest competitor in the tournament), he appeared to have some amount of fighting skill. It was to be an epic showdown.

In a hilarious turn of events, MINOWAMAN knocked out Sokoudjou.

With the win, MINOWAMAN now laid claim to the greatest prize in the history of combat sports, the SUPER HLUK title!

 The prestige is overwhelming.

MINOWAMAN and the SUPER HLUK title's creator.

Anything else?

He does pro wrestling, sometimes just as MINOWAMAN, but apparently he's also Tiger Mask V. Allow MINOWAMAN into your heart, for all he wants is to make it brighter.

Farewell Jon Fitch's UFC Career

Note - this was fan requested on Twitter by Tommy Nicholls. You can request things for me to write about and I'll do my best because why not.

Sad news today as a UFC institution since 2005, Jon "Jon Fitch" Fitch was cut from the enormous roster. He leaves behind a legacy of intense, grappling-heavy victories that broke his opponents' spirit, known colloquially as "Fitchings", along with whatever chunks of his brain are embedded in the canvas after Johny Hendricks punched the daylights out of him. Of course, if you were to ask Fitch, he'll always be part of the UFC, since time has no meaning to him.

Fitch had underwent a bit of a rough patch, including the aforementioned murder at Johny Hendricks' bearded fist, a Fitching by Demian Maia, and the unfortunate demise of his wife and mother-in-law by kitchen-based asteroid.

Instead of the sad times, let us recall the joy Jon Fitch brought into our lives, like the time he made Erick Silva look like a dope, and then that time he beat up Panthro.

Farewell, Jon Fitch, Skyrim is your home once again.
